Well...with the start of the season quickly approaching, what's on your list of things to do, buy, or get done.

Right now, I seem not to have much to prepare. I changed the barrel on my rifle end of last season so I still need to chrony my match ammo, check drops and zeros and perhaps tweak the gas a bit....but not much.

Got lots of ammo loaded up as well.

Dry firing and reloading will become more common over the next couple months and gonna be working out more to get ready for those long, hot, sticky days. One thing I still need to work on is eating better before and on match days....but with crazy delicious mexican food, beer and good friends, its pretty hard.

I still watch this video all the time

Well...rifle seems to be doing ok

Velocities on the ammo are all over the place....I think my chrony might be off. Most of the mags that I ran through it had a spread of 400 fps....and this was match ammo. Any thoughts?

Top on the list of things to do:
Learn how to shoot again!!!

Shot my first match last weekend and its painfully evident that going into hibernation all winter puts you at a big disadvantage vs guys who live in warm weather all year.

On the plus side, I was in the same squad as Jerry Miculek and his family.
Learned quite a bit watching the master at work.

Onagoth, what powder are you using or was it factory ammo?
Did the number of shots fired match up to the number counted by the chrony?
Cold ammo and a cold gun can give different readings than one that is warmed up and the temp of the rounds can make a difference depending on the powder.

It was factory match ammo. It was weird results, that happened across 5 mags worth of ammo, even after the gun was warmed up.

I was taking aim shots through the crony, and the groups were good, kinda why I think its off.

I've also had problems in the past when the chroy would say error instead of giving a result

next time you see Jerry M, please let him know that I want to polish his shoes for him.
Jealous!

Geebus.... Where to start?
I think everything I'll do 3gun-wise will be with an eye towards the Rocky Mtn. Down in New Mexico in August.
Guns don't need any work. .. Just want to get better at reloading the shotty and shooting the rifle faster.

I think the most important thing to work on for New Mex. will be physical conditioning.
It's sure to be a physical match and with the elevation... If you're not in good shape cardio-wise... I think it'll be tough.

Reliability testing on the AR, new JP low mass operating system has about 300 rounds on it and is running fine.

Last year had some disastrous stages with a malfunctioning rifle, turns out it was an out of spec upper. Only took about a dozen trips to the smith to get things sorted out.

That and lots of pistol practice for the upcoming IPSC season.
