Or bull I should say.
Got this guy this past Saturday morning. Hunted for 6 days. Had on and off action in regards to the animals being vocal. Seen a decent amount of elk and had myself tangled up with a good bull that was running a herd of cows earlier in the week but didn't end up getting him. Coulda, shoulda, woulda sort of thing.
Bull moose were being awfully "grunty" as well. Seen 4 bulls and heard two others that I didn't get to have a look at. Surprisingly didn't see any bears and only seen a couple of deer.
Anyways, cow called in while still hunting bush, 50 yard shot, placed under his chin as he was facing me, instant lights out.
Here's the recovered bullet. For fun, let's play a round of guess that bullet. .308" 150 grain to start. Launched from a .30-06 clocking 3020ish at the muzzle. As mentioned, bullet entered high in the neck, through hide on the way in, through meat, smashed a vertebrae, more meat and was underneath the thick, rubbery hide on the backside of the neck, weight 82 grains.
