2014 US Nationals

92 degrees F & 30% humidity and...... SUNSHINE.... here in Phoenix today..... the summertime weather we DIDN't get in Ontario this year!

flying in tomorrow morning and should land at 11:00am. Then heading to the Hampton Inn on West Charlotte...cant wait to see the range :)

Got here yesterday, mummy don't like high milein'. Grumpy, grumpy grumpy. A day at the mall seems to have helped a bit. Heard rumors Jonathan got bit at the border. Darcy's here, haven't seen anyone else. Awesome hot, but we had a great fall at home too. See you all there tomorrow. Good Luck
Cheers

i confirm the rumor. I'm home and wont attend the Nationals....!!! Even if i shot in Raton last year, shot a match this summer in Albany, NY, crossed the border late september with 500 rounds in the trunk obviously declared to the custom agent, now, i cant cross the border anymore due to the fact that...i lost my driving license....19 YEARS ago..

There has to be some recourse Johnathan, sounds a bit personal to me. I know it doesn't help for this one, but is there something that can be arranged for upcomming events? Sorry you can't get here.
Glen

Some very high scores posted by Canadians in both open and FTR.

Try and get them up tomorrow once they are completed. Super hot down here. Never had a rifle barrel this hot. String fire at 34C is very interesting indeed.

Quirky range

nice scores by fellow Canadians

Keep going Gord. don't forget your strategy... and let us know which rifle is shooting your No#1 or the back up.

Greetings from Ben Avery,
We finished the Arizona Long Range Regionals yesterday in a "cooler" 83F day versus the 97f of day 1.
Championship consisted of 2 matches unlimited sighters and 20 on score at 1000yrds on day 1 and 3 of the same yesterday.

It is a challenging range with some real tweaky conditions occurring throughout the day. EVERY relay got a taste
of the variety this range has to offer. Light flags,HOT barrels, instant letoffs and great camaraderie amongst the competitors.

Today are the Team Matches. I've taken the day off electing to recover and heal for the Nationals which start Wed.
Was hoping to have some pics to post but was struggling a little too much to bring a camera and take pics.Hopefully some others will have taken pics to share.
Planning on heading over to the range later today and will take some pics on phone. Will try and get some up here.
Regards
Gord

Popped out to range to see how Team shoots were going and to take some phone pics.Too beautiful of a day to waste laying in hotel room.
Kris,Rad is here and shooting Team Matches.I took a few pics with phone and set them up on Photobucket.
Hope this works

They just finished 1st match when I left.Didn't wait for results but someone should post them when finalized.
Tomorrow is scheduled practice for those just getting in.
Wed starts the real deal.

Gord

Dammit! I wish I had realized this was happening over the 31st... I would have sent an "I am Groot" t-shirt and a pair of aviators with you for him.

I've heard there are some shooters who'll be appropriately costumed for the "holiday".
Kinda sorry I left my snowman outfit at home.Picture Frosty in 90 degree desert sun!!!

Just got in from the team match... Wow, seriously wonky air.

How about flags showing 2 to 3 mins from the right, mirage agreeing at least that much.... The right wind call????

2 mins LEFT!!!!

Some seriously weird air. Lots of teams got beat up. A few shot almost clean scores.... Amazing.

We had some wind coaching from some newer shooters who accepted the challenge and did very well. We all had lots of fun and look forward to doing it again during the Nationals.

Never thought about the 31st... but any costume (except maybe the birthday suit), going to be pretty darn hot.

Just left the twitchy switchy range and from what I saw, the F-TR True North Team wound up second in Expert and the Open Team C-EH was second in the Masters. Not sure what, if any, awards are up. Mid's not done so we'll have to wait for the Nationals to find out. I'm thinking we did pretty good for our somewhat dubious organization skills. Tons of fun, and oh yah, hot too.
Cheers
