Hi All,

The "season" is fast upon us.
We have two weekends to shoot here in B.C. and unfortunately they are consecutive.
All on Vokes Range

May 23 Practice for Service Rifle ( unprecedented as far as I know )
May 24 Lower Mainland Regional SR ( ultimately more practise and bragging rights )

May 29 Service Pistol
May 30 B.C. Service Rifle Championship ( Known as the Will and Ryan show ) sorry long day
May 31 B.C. service Rifle Championship ( if you haven't tried falling plates send me a PM )

To be frank, registration numbers are down for the LMR. we would like to show the BCRA exec that this will continue to be a viable shoot.
The Practice is a godsend for you shooters who have never shot their AR's beyond 200m.
We will have people that can get you in the zone so don't miss this opportunity ( I dialled in a lot of soldiers last weekend at the Blair Comp )
Service Rifle is the grand finale, with 39 Brigade, civvy sharpshooters, and possibly 3 Div from Edmonton ( Regs )

To any civilian shooters out there, this is our shoot done the Army way, don't miss out .

Go to bcrifle.org to find the membership application.
You will have to ask for the LTATT endorsement for Vokes Range as well. Bureaucracy, but extremely simple if you have a LTATT already.

If you get your applications in now there is ample time to make this work, get on it.

Addendum:There are possibly large numbers of military shooters for the Provincial, I want all my buddies to get in there as to get a spot.
 
I can't make it this year, unfortunately. I will add, however, that this is a great event to attend. If you're new to competitive shooting, don't let the term 'championship' dissuade you. The guys running the show, and your fellow shooters on the line will help you out, with no BS or ego. As a military shooter, I've learned a ton from the BCRA guys, and taken that with me to the big army shoots.

Don't hesitate, just sign up and get after it!
 
Shot this competition in 00/01 with the 1VP team. It was a great time would love to do it again is there still space available?

Here's the write up I sent to the CQB crowd.

Hey folks! I Have been informed that there is an excellent shooting opportunity to do some "longer range" shooting on Vokes range( the big 600m "golf course" range) up in Chilliwack.




What's happening is on the 23rd of May there is a practice day which means there will be coaching and practice matches for guys to try. This is unheard of and a new thing for 2015! Matches will be anywhere from 100-500m. They may be slow fire matches with indicated hits, snap matches where the human operated targets are only exposed for 3-5 seconds, rapid fire matches on multiple targets and possibly some fire and movement matches where you run and shoot. You will also get a chance to shoot in positions other than standing. Sitting ,kneeling and standing are all used and to make it extra fun you may have to employ these positions after running and you may be shooting on the smallish snap targets all at one time. You will also most likely get to zero your rifles from 100-500m.




The 24th of May( the next day) is the lower mainland regional service rifle match. This is a fantastic match to cut your service rifle match teeth on as it is a low profile and very relaxed match to attend. There is no better match to start out on as there is no pressure and there will be plenty of help to get everyone going.




The weekend after that May 29-31 we have the BC Provincial Service Rifle and Pistol Championship also at Vokes range. This is a FULL weekend of shooting!




Friday you will shoot pistols in a gallery style set of matches. You will be competing against other civilians and most likely a lot of the local reserve army. There is also a good chance the PPCLI are sending a team down so you will have lots of folks to shoot against.

Saturday you will shoot the classic 1-12 service rifle matches scored out of 600 points. Basically the same matches we shoot at the Canadian Championships in Ottawa in September. It's a whole day of shooting and you will be tired at the end of it.

Sunday is team matches. You will grab 3 partners in crime to form a four man team and you will compete against all the other four man teams in head to head shooting. The favorite match here is the infamous falling plates! You will start in the prone position at 300m with an unloaded rifle and two mags in your hand each containing 5 rds. On the whistle you will get up and sprint 100m to the 200m point where you will adopt the prone position, load your rifle and attempt to shoot down 10 8 inch steel plates before the other two teams you are running against do. Fastest team to do it moves on to the next heat where you will do it again until only one team is left. Fast is good but accuracy is final!




I am not involved in the organizing of this one but I figured I'd give you all a heads up on this sweet chance to shoot on the prettiest military range in Canada(believe me I've been on them all lol).

And yes, Ryan has a flair for writing only exceeded by his marksmanship. Thanks for the write up. Makes me yearn for the Vokes on a sunny day.
 
I was thinking of dusting the old Toblerone off this year. I am still looking for a contact that can email me a letter of invite so I get my STATT from my friendly Alberta CFO.

Sorry buddy, I don't know anything about a letter of invite. As explained to me by BCRA President, all you need to do is request a LTATT for VOKES when you send in your BCRA Membership. Have you sent this in?
Without Dave and Sean Swiss team is much smaller.

No biggie, Will got me in touch with Chris to get it all sorted out. This whole ATT/provincial CFO thing is ridiculous and needs to end. My very first LTATT was good Canada wide, second one was good for 3 provinces of my choice, then it was 2, now only Alberta. The CFO did say however that if I had a letter from the base commander overseeing Vokes Range saying that I shot there every year and it was ok, that he'd add it onto my Albeta LTATT.

Lol base commander? Chiliwack is no longer a base and hasn't been for some time. BCRA membership is all you need.
 
Ya I know...��. I was reading about the BC CFO adding it onto your LTATT, but the Alberta CFO won't. Maybe I'll ask them to have a chat with each other and hope us Hurtin Albertans can get it added to our LTATTs. Now that we're being ruled by the NDP who knows what sort of gong show will transpire next year.
