Match Cancellations and Updates:

The military units have priority over the booking procedure and the ORA's range bookings can be bumped or cancelled at a moments notice. I will be posting any updates for each match on this Long Range Forum. Each match will have it's own thread for your to find (easily I am hoping). In previous years, cancellations have occurred with finite communication for various reasons. I'm sensitive to that situation and will do my best to keep you updated right here in this forum.

I can best be reached by PM right here on CGNutz.

Directions to Base Borden:

Follow this link: http://ontariorifleassociation.ca/node/87

Please PM or post any questions you may have. You will notice the format is very similar to Barney's style - simply because it works!

I think we are going to have a great year!

Adam

is there any plans of having a competition over a whole weekend ? ....well...2 days in a row :)

Former 2014 Match Director here.... NOPE! Understand it's all about range bookings and availability (it's a very long story). Now 2 day or more shooting opportunities DO exist in the form of courses and courses of fire. Lemme explain; You could take a course with Keith and Linda at the Milcun Marksmanship Complex (google them) and Rob Furlong's School (watch your spelling on Google). AND then you could come and shoot DCRA's National Service Conditions Championships at the end of August every summer in Connaught Ranges (CRPTC). Calendar/schedule for NSCC 2015 is posted up at www.dcra.ca site and you can download the necessary calendar/shooting schedule as well as entry forms. :)

I hope that clears things up!

Cheers and keep on helping them noooobies out there!

Aww only 1 clinic? And it falls on the day of one of the winter long range training program days. :( Any plans for another clinic as i would be interested in participating.
Yeah I agree it's a tough one but its harder to arrange or coordinate the range with the physical classroom with the instructor with the supplies with the weather etc etc. I should know since I do this lots and lots.

We work with what we got! :)

Cheers

Thanks Barney.

Only one clinic planned for the moment.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate everyone. The ORA winter program is an excellent training opportunity - you will gain much from this course.

If I win the lottery I will build a 1000 meter civilian range so we can play all day everyday. :D

Money is not the issue. It's the rules. For the money you can charge on a public range. All it takes is a ton of fill. I have people who will pay you to take clean fill. Enough fill to make your mounds which you actually profited on. The tens of thousands of truck loads will be enough money to buy all your target racks.

All this is great in theory. Good luck getting the approvals now.

I have heard of clubs paying enormous amounts of money to have there mounds made. I can't understand it. I have companies I can call tomorrow that if you need over an retain amount of fill. They will staff the site to check every load and guys to move the dirt however you want it. And will pay you $5 per truck. I live in erin. I know up here you can get $5. People a little farther might not get anything because trucks need to come a bit farther. But you still won't be out of pocket.

Hello Adam, are these dates still valid?

So far; I'm working on more dates. The ORA is looking into other range availability. Once I have updates, I will post them here.

Wow that sucks. I just got into this game and love it. I hope 2016 has some more dates.

So do I. With two ranges needing repair this year, we are left with little availability.

Money is not the issue. It's the LAND USE PLANNING/ENVIRONMENTAL/ENGINEERING rules and regulations.

Finding a location that is suitable and going through the development approvals is the real #####. You are correct, right now you get paid to take clean fill...it's the hoops to get a development approved in a municipality this side of James Bay that is the hurdle....even before you get to the stage of dealing with the CFO.

Adam - what's the cost for the Clinic weekend?

$80 for members, and $125 for non-members.

Can we shoot on April 25-26 as a Match 1? or is it reserved for shooters who paid for the clinic will attend to the range on that weekend?

The event is set up as a clinic, so we will not be shooting the regular course of fire in a match.

Adam

The weather is looking like SUNNY for both days. You guys have a great RSO running the show as well as a couple of super experienced instructors!

Have a great time! :)

Cheers and keep on helping them noooobies out there! :p
