2015 Shot Show: Magpul Hunter 700 Stock

Only available for the M700. No plans at this time to offer it for other actions. Only a right hand version. Bottom metal is unique for this rifle.

I also have a take on it. I didn't mint it. Right now only available in the Short Action M700 footprint.

I don't quite like the finish on the stock. it is too smooth and slippery for me. I would have preferred a stronger texture around the grip area.

From what I gather:

Aluminum bedding block
Modular height adjustable cheek rest
Modular adjustable length of pull
AICS DBM bottom metal upgradable
QD sling mounts

Not sure if those are M-Lock ports on the front of the stock.

Is it worth $259? If it is a lightweight but solid platform, then the price doesn't seem too bad. All things considered, my B&C stock cost me $300. plus $160. for a new AICS bottom metal plus $150 to get it inletted plus $60. for a cheek rest. And I wouldn't think about hefting that thing around all day in the bush 'cause it is hefty.

with this list, I think the price make sense. Thanks for the info.

I guess skateboard grip tape is gonna be popular with the owners. I wonder if it would have been too much work to incorporate some grip texture like that of their 1911 grips.

Looking at the pictures in post 1, I see a bunch of bolts in the barrel channel and seams/tabs near the recoil lug area.

It indicates to me that the stock is "assembled" from various bits. And some of those bits merge at critical stress areas.

maybe completely wrong but why bother with all those bolts if this was a 1 pc fused in the mold stock?

It would definitely make molding and thus production easier and less expensive.

Look forward to seeing one...

Well, this explains a bunch.

They actually had one of the Engineer's at the booth with these stocks. I thought It looked like a nice, cost effective upgrade to your standard run-of the mill 700 stock. And at under $300 US it seems like a good value (to me at least) for someone looking to upgrade their old 700.
Sure its not a Precision Chassis, but It gets your 700 barrel floating and they're working on interchangeable magwell inserts for different mags, offers you the flexability of the SGA chassis as well as (presumably) reliable AICS sized mags at $28 U.S. MSRP... that's a great deal compared to the AICS ones on the market now. In my opinion its geared towards the regular guy not the target shooter.

I'm not really a Magpul fan but this looks like an interesting product. Would probably buy one to upgrade my Tikka stock if they make one for it. I won't be holding my breath on that one though.
