2015 Shot Show: Osprey Armament Mk-36 - M1A/M14 AR Style Rifle

This does not look like a chassis at all.

Looks like a M1/M14 option rod and M1 barrel/gas system.

Looks like an AR lower

from the look of the lower it doesn't look compatible with an AR upper so I think it is very likely to be NR wich would be great

Looks closer to a JR Carbine to me and that's still a stretch IMO. The take down pins are in different places, the magwell is completely different. The pistol grip is in a different location with regard to the rear of the receiver and the receiver geometry is completely different....

I could go on, but it's easier to just say the only things in common between this and an AR lower is: It's black, has a pistol grip and a detachable box mag, and those are pretty weak similarities as not all AR's have all of the above either...

I would agree and would be happy if you made that determination for the RCMP.

It's what their lab will say that concerns me.

They've restricted rifles that only have a passing resemblance to the the AR15 or AK47 already, so I don't have much hope

There has been no mention whether this will be sold as a chassis or as a rifle.
If the receiver is a new manufactured proprietary design, its going to have to go through the classification process.
It seems to exist only as a prototype, so it is going to be necessary to wait for it to get into production.

FYI, to finally put this chassis non-sense to rest...

Me: Is the Osprey Armament Mk-36 a new firearm or a chassis system for the m1a?
Osprey Armament: New firearm. Not a chassis. Thanks!
