Winchester was showing their new Shotgun ammo featuring their Shot Lok Technology.

It is designed as a Turkey round but it could have benefits for other game. Their advertizing is showing off a Turkey that was taken at 66yds.

Basically, they finely pack the shot then embed an epoxy type substance in it so it all comes out of the barrel in a tight group before separating from the epoxy. Pretty interesting concept for longer range patterns

Shot-Lok Technology prevents pellets from deforming due to the effects of load acceleration, keeping all pellets round and allowing them to remain on a tight, consistent path toward the target

It boasts:

  • Shot launches from the barrel near perfectly round for extremely tight long range patterns
  • 2x the number of shot in a 10" circle out to 60yds
  • Greater penetration at 50yds than standard lead

Available in:

  • 12 Gauge Only
  • 3 and 3-1/2 Length
  • 1-3/4, 2, 1-7/8, and 2-1/8 Weight Shot
  • 4,5,6 Shot Size
  • Velocity: 1200Fps for standard, and 1050Fps for the Magnum

Thanks for all your efforts in bringing the show to us. Truly appreciate it.
I always wondered why ammo co's. didn't do this to shot shells. Cost I suppose...

The brochure said available Jan 2015 for the turkey loads and July 2015 for the rooster.

I have no idea how the distributor system works for the Cdn dealer system for winchester ammo so I would say it depends on the company. I'd hazard a guess that the larger retailers would be first to get it?

For price, I'd say it is a premium round so price it accordingly.

They say what's recommended for a choke? Would a super tight turkey choke disrupt the epoxy bound payload and blow the pattern?
