Dang...I can honestly say I have not purchased a Winchester 70 yet this year. Has anyone heard rumours of What Winchester will be showing at the Shot Show this month? Always room for another model 70.
Happy New Year to all.

Your only a few hours into 20015.Still time for you to get a Browning.Happy New Year to you as well..

They usually don't advertise them until the day the SHOT Show starts. I have a hankerin' for an 1886 Takedown.

X2 on the 50-110 Express but they should also introduce ammo for it as well. I bought their 45-90 but they don't make ammo for it. Yes, I reload my own anyhow but who the heck sells a rifle without ammo?

.

I'd like to see a M70 Featherweight stainless/walnut, in 6.5x55 or 7x57 or 7-08

I'm sure that would be a pussy cat on the shoulder, good thing the 86 is a weak action and can't handle heavy loads;)

Lol. I can make them hurt as much as I can handle, But that's not where I'm going. As long as I can launch a 300 gr HP at a modest 2200 fps, I can live with that.

A Model 92 Trapper in .454 Casull or .475 Linebaugh (if the rim diameter would work) sounds pretty sweet to me.

The old .50-110 Express used a 300 grain bullet.Yes it would be fairly light for a .50.The 300 grain was the express bullet. The 450 grain bullet was used in the .50-100.Either bullet however, could be used in either rifle.

They did do a stainless 7-08 fwt about 2-3 years ago, fwiw.
Personally I'd be happy to see a fwt (current cartridge choices) in a good handling quality synthetic stock (McMillan, brown) that really helps drop some weight. I'd also be tempted by a 6.5x55 fwt (short action, I think it will fit) or 280 fwt.

Winchester has posted that they will be introducing their Tikka/RAR clone, which I can understand from a business point of view. If they can keep the weight and price down, and it shoots well, they will sell a pile of them. Not really my thing, I am a bit more traditional than that but I will watch them with some interest.

I would love to see a 50-110 with a faster twist than the original Express barrels had so we could shoot whatever we please.
You can shoot a 300gr from any 45-70 or 45-90 with a 1:20 or 1:18 twist with decent accuracy and those twists are good for bullets up to 540gr.

I would absolutely love a 50-110 1886. I've wanted one for years but there aren't many options for less than $5000.

I would find a nice mould in the 450-550gr range :)

I doubt there are any options for a working original .50-110 Model 1886 for less than $5000.00. :)
