Thought you guys might like to see this. Mounted by a friend of a friend named George Elekes, in Ontario, who only does his own mounts and the occasional job for a friend. He entered it into the Michigan State competition and won several awards including best of category and best gamehead in the master taxidermist. Sadly, while I requested a headmount, the pedestal is his from another mount and not mine to keep. I'll have to see if I can duplicate one. These are pics I took with my iphone.

He also did this mount which won a bunch of awards including 1st place at the world championships

Wow both of those are amazing mounts!! Coyote/fox/cat mounts must be some the hardest mounts to do as they usually just look off in the eye area.........these are spot on!!! Congrats on a beauty and thanks for sharing.

The taxidermist was explaining to me, at the master level of judging, they touch every inch of the mount to feel if it is done correctly. For the nose, they peer up each nostril with a flashlight to make sure it is correct inside. There was a deer that he put in the world competition a few years ago and placed 3rd I think. A local taxidermist at the same show asked him how he got the nose to look so perfect and the response was that he had 30 hours into the nose alone. For the guys knocking deer heads out for ~$500, if they have more than 6 hours into the entire mount, it doesn't make money. For this guy it is more of a hobby in the pursuit of perfection than a volume business. Who doesn't like to be told they're the best in the world at something? The coyote pup mount had 6 months into it.

What a beautiful piece of work. The guy is an artist who clearly loves what he is doing.
