well now that big game hunting is done for another year and Christmas is past, its time to start sorting brass and thinking about spring gophers. Official date is Friday June 3 -Monday June 6 .
Any previous attendee's have the invite to return again this year, but please inform me early on. If there is room, anyone else who wants to attend will be allowed to do so on a first come, first serve basis. Anybody who wants to attend after the spots are filled will be put on the back up list and again the chance to attend will be provided if anybody backs out. This is in place to ensure we do not have too many shooters and only qualifies if we exceed that limit. If your interested, speak up soon. I will record those interested in the order I recieve a request. Again, for those who have attended in the past, you're all more then welcome to come back again and I'm sure you know you don't need an invite. With that said, if your interested in coming DO NOT MAKE YOUR REQUEST UNTIL YOU CAN CONFIRM YOU CAN GET THE TIME OFF AND CAN MAKE THE TRIP. There is nothing more aggravating then reserving a spot and not showing up or canceling at the very last minute. It's not fair for others who could have made it out and it drives me bat s**t crazy.
The shoot takes place in Southern Saskatchewan near the town of Tompkins. We are on privately owned property and we require any attendees to respect that fact. The land owner graciously allows us to not only use his fields, but provides a camping area and toilet facilities. You are required to be self sufficient for the duration of your stay. There are no water or electrical hook-ups. Also provided is a fire pit. A request I ask is for each attendee to bring a small supply of fire wood for group use if they can do so. We all enjoy the fire pit, but having enough wood may be an issue. Most places like Canadian Tire and gas stations provide fire wood, so finding it is fairly simple. As mentioned, we are on private property. Plan to bring any garbage out with you that you bring in. You will need to bring your own food and water, toiletries and so on. If the past few years are any indication, the weather can go from warm and sunny to snow in no time. Be prepared for anything to make yourself more comfortable. We are shooting gophers, and the land owner allows the use of rimfires, centerfires and shotguns. If there's any questions as to what you can bring, PM me for additional info. Around the farm and camp area, please keep all your firearms unloaded at all times and please be aware of your targets and surroundings. This is a working farm, with people, livestock, buildings and equipment. Know your target and what is beyond. Any shooting done with high powered rifles is to be done by firing away from the direction of any farm, the camp, vehicles, livestock or outbuildings. If in doubt, don't shoot.
If we have too many people in attendance, we may break people up into groups and send them in different directions. There is alot of land, but we need to keep everyone safe. However we are not babysitters and accept no responsibility for any injuries or damages. By agreeing to attend, you agree to these terms. If you need to be babysat, don't come. We're not really 'organizers', and this isn't an official thing. It's just a group of friends getting together for a fun, camping weekend. Be safe out there, know where your fellow hunters are and everybody will have a great, safe weekend.
Around camp feel free to indulge in any beverage you choose, but keep it in camp. Also I'm afraid we cannot allow anyone under the age of 18 to attend without written permission from a parent or gaurdian. Futhermore, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18, also with written consent if that person is not their legal gaurdian. Pet's and children are welcome but must remain under your control at all times. You are soley responsible for their safety. And keep in mind there are children around, please watch your language and activities. And due to some previous instances, I would really prefer NO PETS are brought as they can be a nuisance to the other guests. Really, dont bring a gun shy dog to a SHOOTING event!!!
If there are any other questions please feel free to post them in here and we will do our best to address them as quickly as possible. I'm sorry to sound like a hard ass, but we just want everyone to have a good time and go home safe. Alright folks, lets get things rolling. You have 5 months to plan time off and get things organized, plenty of time to plan on attending. We have the best people you will ever meet in this camp, and it truely has been a pleasure to share it with them. And it's great to meet new people and put faces to those screen names. Plan on coming out, it really is a great time.
