2016 SHOT Show: Crosman Benjamin Pioneer Airbow

Or you could save your money and buy the real thing made by FX instead of this cheap immitation. Look up FX Verminator, Royal, Indy or any other FX model really.

I don't like that the sign for the Bulldog says "Big Game Power!" Right under "200ftlbs of energy"...

There's not many hunters that would consider a pistol chambered in .380 auto (same M.E.) to be "big game power!"

You're probably not a bow hunter. Your average crossbow shooting a 400gr. bolt around 350 FPS is only about 100 ft lbs.

For a fast shooting easy to use gun that can shoot 8 shots before a refill that's impressive.

You probably didn't read my post. I was referring to the Bulldog, not the Airbow. The Bulldog fires a .357 lead pellet at 800 fps, producing a mere 200 ft lbs of energy. That's great for an air gun... But for "big game"? Not what I would personally classify as an ethical firearm choice.

From their own website:

Stepping into a Bulldog .357 means stepping out of the traditional world of airguns. Go beyond garden pests and into the realm of predator hunting and wild hogs, whitetail wallhangers and African plains game. Take the leash off what’s possible and hunt with a Bulldog.

^ I think that's an irresponsible description of a firearm that only produces the same power as a .380 auto pistol. Even a .22 mag has 240 ftlbs.

And for the record, yes, I am indeed a bow hunter.

I saw this at SHOT, and it is quite a piece of kit for hunting. However I think the "air bow" is with the RCMP right now for classification. Also it will be going through the various MNRs to determine if it can be used in bow season or not. It is very loud, and they were promoting accuracy of 2 inches at 60 yards.

There is a BIG difference between a small 80gr progectiles with that energy and a arrow with a bladed tip. A bullet has to push its way through an animal, an arrow cuts its way through.

For the love of God, people! Pay attention! Gee Whiz!

I'm talking about the Bulldog. Not the Airbow. The bulldog.

Not the Airbow.

The bulldog

Just the bulldog.

:p

I just got an email from Chip H. at Crosman.

" We are currently in discussions with the RCMP about the Airbow’s legal status and Gravel is being kept in the loop. With any luck we should have a final determination in the next ten days or so."

Oh man I'd in on one of these.

I have been looking for a tool to hunt coyotes in the valley and this could just be it.

My CO buddy just asked me last week if I would be interested in helping them deal with problem coyotes but I would have to use a bow.

I am seriously considering this - assuming of course, one will be able to use it for bow hunting season in Ontario. The fact that it has no limbs makes it ideal for small blinds/stands......

Someone had mentioned it was quite loud; can anyone confirm? ...and if so, just How loud are we talking?

I dont recall it being loud.
Then again, I was plugged up, and there was a tremendous racket from other firearms that day.

With less power and double the price I won't be buying the "real thing" lol

Less power? haha. Cute. Where did you get that piece of information?

And if you're complaining about prices then ... sure, if price is that all the determines and justifies your purchases then go for it. As for myself, I'm not rich enough to buy cheap crap.

Do a little bit of more reading before trying to post cute stuff. And make sure you buy a scuba tank for future Crossman knockoff.

It states in the link 290fps for the fx kit and the Crossman is 450fps.

Isn't that a bit of a power difference?

That particular kit might be 450 FPS but they make other model that surpass that and beyond. They also make a model that come with hand pump that eliminate the need for refilling. As far as I know they FX came up with this idea a few years ago. Here is a video from back in 2014:
