2016 Waterfowl Season

I was getting a bit excited after seeing flocks on the water while fishing. Decided to camo the kayak in order to jump shoot some birds this season.

Ya I havent seen any groups of geese around me at all yet, only a couple here and there. But Duck season is getting close and I am getting ready. Most is good to go, just need a new pair of waders.

Going out on opening day for geese with a friend. He's a total noob and my experience is rather limited as well. But we're gonna give it a try anyway. It'll be a fun day regardless but I hope the geese are flying by then because I haven't seen many yet.

A day in the field, beats a day at home or work :)

Skeet shooting at my buddies farm was working as a temporary fix, but the fever is too strong now. Ammo case is full, fresh decoys at the ready, new 12 gauge to boot.... Only problem is i haven't seen any geese on the wheat field i hunt, hopefully im better than i think at calling them in... Happy hunting gents, two days to go.

From hospital bed to duck blind...the season now begins. I missed the opener, but fortunate to be out on day 2!

Went out this morning for the waterfowl opener. It was surprisingly quiet with very little shooting. My buddy and I each dropped a goose from a small group that flew close by, and we saw a handful of mallards and a few greenwings, but that was it. Oh well. It was a good morning, and hopefully things pick up as the season progresses.

Had a quiet morning yesterday but managed to get four Canada geese with my new SX3 (that I love).

It was a short trip out because I had to work after but all in all not a bad day!

At work this morning watching the birds starting to move and I get a text from my hunting partner. It's 7 am and he's already limited out on ducks(8 bird limit here) and is waiting for the geese to start lifting off the river and head for the swathed barley field he is in. Fifteen minutes later the texting ends. Ok that means the geese have started moving. Yep! 07:40 he's got his 8 bird limit of dark geese now too. Sends a text, "this hunting alone sucks, ducks and geese are pouring in by the hundreds!! Can the dog have a limit too?!!" Laugh2
Yup 10 days into the season, he's slaying birds almost daily and I have yet to get a day off to join in!!:bangHead:

I bought a waterfowl licence for the last three years, finally today I utilized it. I bought a Ithaca M37 this summer so with a nice 12 guage I decided to give it a go. I waited about 45 mins before this duck flew by within range. I don't have all the gear one usually needs, but it is fun regardless.
