2017 CDTSA 3-Gun Schedule

Hey All,

I still don't have a firm update on the round count, but I can tell you now that a two point sling for your rifle will be required.

The sling must hold the rifle securely across your back.

Hey Everyone,

One more update - those of you who have been shooting CDTSA matches for a while will remember the shotgun mega stages that we used to hold at our Shepard range. They've definitely been missed since we started holding matches at Milo, but miss them no more! This next match will feature a (mainly) shotgun stage.

For those of you that are not familiar with the shotgun mega stage, this means that you must be capable of carrying a minimum of 30 shotgun shells in your gear. Keep in mind, that is the perfect round count, so it is in your best interests to be able to carry more.

30 plus what you start with in the gun, or 30 including what you start with in the gun?

Yes,

Currently, there are two stages requiring slugs. Each stage is capped at a maximum of 5 slugs, for a total of 10. But, as always, bring extras in case something happens - like a timer failure - and you have to reshoot the stage.

The 30 includes what you start with in the gun. That being said, make sure you have some spare rounds in case you have misses. There will be targets that need to be knocked down, so you may or may not require a second shot to knock them down.

As the same with other heavy shotgun stages. I will have a MicroRig available to all competitors. That chest rig holds 24 rounds.

Nope
As soon as one is finalized I will email everyone that is signed up to the mailing list and Jeff will update here.

so, if we don't have a 2-pt sling, we skip that stage? Unfortunately, that's a bit of a surprise only a few days out...
or can we use a different rifle for that stage?

It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just rig one up! You could probably get by with a length of rope and some zip ties if you REALLY didn't have anything else. Lol

I'll bring an extra sling with me, and we'll figure out how to make it work if you want.

I have several single-point slings but only a QD on the stock. I don't have anything to connect the other end to the loop on the foregrip... it is an m-lok set up, but again, I don't have the adaptor to add another QD point. I may be able to get to TSE or CSC during the work nights but I'm not sure if they'll have any. I don't even have a hunting rifle sling with the correct adapters.
Rope is an option I guess?
I was just a bit surprised since I don't go to a lot of competitions and I've never noticed a match on The Youtube where people used that set up, so it never occurred to me that I'd have to be buying something else a few days out. Most ranges I go to, we aren't even allowed to use slings of any kind, especially during matches because of the 180 rule

Both matches in the past I've been required to sling my rifle, I had it attached with a tie wrap around the fore-end, and then a sling pin through the tie wrap. It worked well. Actually if I manage to make it to this match I will have that same configuration, though I so far no luck finding a travel buddy.

I just called the 3 primary Calgary stores with no luck, unless I want to buy a $100 Knights Armament QD for m-lok...probably not.

So, I will come with rope and zip ties but hopefully the spare sling you have will fit through the magpul UBR stock I have. The attachment point is quite narrow, so it would need to be free of buckles and such.
My other option was to run that stage with one of my M1 Carbines as they do have the required sling but I don't want to risk taking it off.

Also,
Jeff, what grain of 9mm and 223 do you use?

see you all Saturday.
