With the huge fire, the extreme fire hazard, and drought all spring and summer. we almost never bothered to go, but my friends had never hunted pronghorn, and none of use will ever draw another tag in Alberta. We drove down and scouted Sunday, saw five bucks, but nothing over 13". Monday we headed out to the pasture hoping to find a larger buck, and at 9am, we saw this guy, and decided that we had better take him, as the odds of finding a huge buck were against us this year. We parked the truck behind a hill, made a stalk, and when we peeked over the hill, they were on the move. We dropped below the hill covered 200 yards as quickly as we could, and peeked the next hill to see them about 300 yards away. My friends had never shot a pronghorn, so I set up the sticks and told one of them to take the shot. Both of them were breathing hard, and didn't feel that they could be steady enough to make the shot. I put my rifle up on the sticks just as the buck turned as if he was going to leave. At the shot he folded and fell dead. We cleaned the buck and carried on, and found a smaller buck a couple of hours later, and a friend used my rife to make a 250 yard shot. At that point, we cleaned the buck, and headed for home.

I haven't, yet, arranged for a replacement set up for photobucket so I can't post photos but if you're interested, PM me your e-mail address and I'll send the photos to you.
