2017 Waterfowl season

5 day countdown to the duck opener here in southern Ontario. I've seen some massive groups while out hunting geese. If things hold steady, anything less then limiting out on the opener would be considered a failure. But you know how it goes, birds disappear when they know the season is opened. And somehow, they always know

Can't wait for duck to open. I've been out 4 times, me and my hunting buddy got 3 the first day, then none, then two and 8 yesterday. Now I'm honing for ducks.

Hey guys this is going to be my first year duck hunting, so Im very excited. I just wanted to ask how important it is to have my boat camouflaged. I would not consider painting it, but I am thinking of buying camo sheets and laying it over the whole boat but unsure if it is really worth all the trouble.

Depends what type of terrain you are hunting. But if its a "olive" colour without anything shinny and bright and you hunker down in the weeds. I think you are okay... Others might say differently though.

Its a bright white boston whaler with chrome railings ...

Thats a problem! You'll need to cover that boat somehow. Are you planning to shoot out of it or just to use it to get to your spot?

My duck boat isnt camoflauged but it is painted military drab and hides quite well

Opening day was a success for me. Had my limit on ducks before the sun was fully out and added a couple geese a little later on. Great day with the exception of the damn heat!!

Insane amount of ducks here in Sask..good amount of Canada's too. Even a rookie like me with my small decoy spread can limit out in an hour...I used to love pheasant and upland but this waterfowl think has me hooked.

I don't know what it is about wood ducks, but I'd swear they were almost too pretty to eat.

ALMOST. (also those feathers will come in awfully handy for my fly tying this winter)

Been hard at it since the opener. Between the 6 of us we are at 182 geese and 137 ducks.

Corn is just starting to come.off and it's getting cold, can't wait for the migraters, good a couple beautiful Wigeon ducks and a blue teal the other night.

Beautiful duck!

I still remember the first one I shot. It looked just like yours and I cooked/ate it. Wish I would have done a mount instead.
