2018 IPSC Canada Nationals

I heard about nationals being in Manitoba back in Nov. I imagine serious competitors would have booked back then.
 
previous nationals you had no problem booking in January or February, and that was normally when the MD gets a group rate at a nearby hotel thus making it the " match hotel", this time around there is absolutely no info for any hotel available. the nearest good hotel is fully booked and the next good ones are in Winnipeg which is an hour drive away...
 
When the date was released and people realized the poor hotel availability in the area I'm guessing people were being proactive and grabbed whatever they could.

I'm just speculating as I'm not going anyway.

The hotels in Calgary were an hour drive away from 2017 Nationals, too. Just book in Winnipeg. And the roads will be 187 times better than 2017 Nationals.
 
there are several hotels that are roughly 30 to 45 min away in winnipeg and 99.9% of the drive is on paved highway. Canad Inns in Transcona, club regent, Windsor park and garden city. Also the Curtis and norvilla hotel on Henderson hwy. Also the Oakbank Motor hotel. (I live in Oakbank) the range is about 30 KM from the north city limits so you want to find something as north, north east as possible. wherever you are you can most likely hit hwy 59 which takes you to the range or the perimeter which will take you to Hwy 59 to the range. The range is basically right of the highway so only like 2 min of gravel road.

Those would be some of the options I would look at, there is higher end hotels downtown which would add another 10-15 minutes so roughly 45-50 minutes out depending on time of day.
 
It is only about 20 to 45 mins drive from Winnipeg to the range. (depending on which end of the city you stay)
There should be more than enough room in Winnipeg.
