I am hearing a rumour that the 2018 IPSC Canadian Nationals that are to be held in Selkirk Manitoba is to be held in later August rather then the end of July as has been traditional. Has anybody else heard this?

AB Provincials are traditionally held on the Canada Day long weekend and BC Provincials are traditionally held on the Labour Day Long weekend.

Hi folks, as MD I can confirm that the IPSC Nationals will be held - August 13-18 2018 at the Selkirk Game & Fish Association ranges in East Selkirk MB. The range is about 45 minutes North of Winnipeg.

We are working on a lot of details, but you can bookmark the match website and watch for updates: http://nationals.ipscmanitoba.com/

Hope to see you in 2018!

p.s. Manitoba Provincials tentative dates are Aug 4 & 5, pending range bookings.

Aug 13 to 18 2018 is Monday to Saturday.

Typically the main match is Thursday to Saturday with Sunday reserved for 3 things: "just in case the match doesn't finish on time"; Shoot off; and awards banquet.

Is the intent for 2018 that Saturday Aug 18 will be the "reserved/shoot-off/awards day", or ... what? Any clarification you can provide is appreciated.

Tell me what does the Pan Am Games in Jamaica have to do with holding an IPSC Match in Canada?
Our best will be representing Canada in Jamaica. We also want our best to be at the nationals; otherwise the championship has no meaning. Common sense dictates that they shouldn't be at the same time.

duuuuuu. I should really pay more attention. When people said PanAm i was was assuming the PanAm games and i was wondering what the PanAm games had to do with IPSC. Then Reading Sean's comment the brain finally kicked in and i went and checked and i see that it is the VII Pan-American Championship for IPSC. Now it makes perfect sense to me.

Ha-HA!! Gonna apply to IROA there? I'm sure Alistair (Jamaican RD) will be treating his officials well. He's a pretty awesome dude.

Pleased to let you know that the match schedule has been decided:

Registration & pre-match – Monday August 13
Main match – August 14-17
Banquet & shoot off/rain day – August 18th

I'm also very happy to say that Wolverine Supplies will be our match sponsor!
XMetal Targets has signed on as a Gold sponsor. We are looking for more sponsors, interested parties should contact nationals@ipscmanitoba.com

The four day schedule fits with our goals of hosting as many competitors as possible while maintaining match quality. The current plan is to have competitors shoot two half days and work one full day.

yea and in Jamaica someone takes your guns and ammo and transports it to the range, then takes it away from you until you come back to the airport to leave the country.. unless your a sponsored shooter who gets free guns I wouldn't go..

Shooting in a country like Jamaica, I would rather have them secure at the range than have them in your hotel room so that they can be stolen while you are having lunch. This is Jamaica, and I am sure that is the reason!

Raks, trying to shot the prematch in one day is to much. give them two days just like everyone else. When i did the '08 Nationals we tried to do the prematch in one day and it just didn't work so then we had to try and get the match officials free to shoot through the stages they missed during the prematch while the main match was running. it was ugly.
