2018 RIMFIRE goals?

I probably said the exact same things for 2017.

But....

Of course, shooting more would be nice. Wouldn't mind trying out the 50 yard challenge. Have a few rimfires to get rid of yet, trying to keep my overall gun collection down to the ones I actually use. And, would like to get my hands on a 9422.

Curious to know what everyone else has on deck?

Per our text chat the other week, I picked up a CZ 452 Varmint in .22lr off the EE as well as a scope. Hunted around for a Sightron TAC 4-12X40 AO HHR, but apparently this scope is discontinued and none of the retailers I contacted had any left in stock. Wasn't patient enough to wait for one on the EE, so I found a deal on a Vortex Diamondback 4-12x40 AO BDC instead. Ordered up a bipod as well as some rings (went with Warne #722M rings after all, thanks for the suggestion!) and other goodies.

I've been sitting on the idea of a quality bolt action rimfire for a while, and I'm glad it's all finally coming together! Pumped to start having some bench fun with this thing ASAP.. will get pics up on the sticky as soon as it's all together!

Probably track down a rimfire EFR for the CZ stainless, and get out to some private property for some varmint control fun. Though I only own two rimfire firearms total now (both in HMR), I am totally content and just want to go out and shoot as much as I can!

I have downsized to four rimfires total... I do not plan to buy any more in 2018 (yeah, right), but do plan to double or triple the lead sent down range. I only shot a dozen bricks in 2017... sad.

What's an average year and what's a good year in your books Hoyt?

I'd like to get a T Bolt. I've always wanted one, but every time I go to buy one I get a CZ instead.

Due to health this spring i did not get to do any high volume gopher shooting. This year I will be back at our 1000 a day shooting fields! I plan on selling 20+ guns and hope to get a 54 target gun.

Bought a couple of t-bolts and ended up having to buy an after market trigger. The trigger pull was terrible, probably built by a lawyer. The 13 cz’s in my safe show my preference for quality( no 455 here either )

13 eh? So I shouldn't feel guilty about looking at another 452 Varmint in 22LR...even though I have one? :)

Sounds like my kind of gopher patch~I'm jealous! :) I'm confident the spots I have could produce as many...though I'm not sure my nephew and I would have that much stamina. lol If we could stay in one or two spots all day and just keep shooting...I'm sure we could. It's that pesky physical exertion holding us at the 500-600 a day mark. I only hope 2018 is as good as 2016 was.

Part of me is jealous that people have fields to shoot several hundred gophers in. Part of me is also thankful we never had that bad of a gopher problem.

But damn, 1000 in a day? I was lucky if I shot 10 in a day this spring.

My goal is to downsize a little more and shoot what I keep a little more often. I intend to buy no new rifles in 2018, with one last new rifle expected any time. I also want to shoot my handgun a little more often as I always end up taking a rifle to the range.

Shoot more, see if my CZ455 Canadian can acheive the 50yrd challenge (pretty sure the rifle can but the shooter may need practice) and most likely get a 10/22 to thinker with

Well, it is kind of apples to oranges at the moment... we sold the farm with its 500 yard range in the backyard and I now have to travel to the club range, so it is at least a half day production... it is much more difficult to squeeze in shooting. At one point I was shooting 40-50 bricks/year, so a dozen seemed very low. Realistically my goal for this year is 20 bricks, and my focus is NOT just cranking rounds off down range... I only have one semi ATM and that is a Browning Buck Mark Sporter, not exactly a "high volume" lead chucker. I have a stack of several hundred quad-bull targets and I am going to concentrate on tweaking my technique and equipment on my three bolt guns to see just how tight I can get them.

Below is a picture of my old range (backyard), I miss it pretty badly.... but I am only a year away from developing my retirement property and a new 200 yard range, with heated indoor shooting shack/lounge.

Few 60's for the kids but for myself its about more use, a really top shelf optic and some custom leather slings.....

The irony of getting older, finally have the nice stuff you've always lusted for and not the time to utilize them properly!! ;)

Now I'm not the smartest with priorities but the Wifie is top of the list 24/7, 365 days a year...... ;)

All the rest of the stuff is just window dressing.... But I'm seriously going back and forth with the thought of an Annie mistress just to contradict what I just typed, whims are fickle like that!!
