2018 RIMFIRE goals?

My plan is to get really familiar with my first .22 this summer. We are getting some metal targets set up which are really fun to shoot, especially the reseting ones so you don't have to walk back and forth all the time. Then come fall, go hunt some grouse and rabbits with a little more finesse than my 20 gauge. Really looking forward to it. Hope everyone is having a nice time with their families right now and wishing all you gunnutz a happy 2018!

After years of being mildly dismissive of rimfires I bought a .22LR rifle in early summer and I've probably put more rounds through it then every other rifle I own since.

So the goal is more rimfire and I'd like to upgrade to a magazine fed bolt-action (I currently have a single-shot bolt). Budget uncertain, I don't know much about the current state of accurate rimfire rifles.

After saying for years, that at this point in life, my CZ 452 varmint 22 lr was the only one I needed/wanted, A Remington 541 S appeared in October. My 2018 goal is to decide which one stays and which one leaves........Assuming that they will both shoot about equal, which would you guys keep?View attachment 138783

Now that I have seen the beauty that is a Remington 541.
A new goal for me may be finding one to call my own.

CZ 452 or 455.

I felt pretty much the same as you re rimfires but always had a one in the cabinet...just because. It wasn't until last fall (when I picked up a beautifully restored S&L) that perked my interest in rimfires. I've since added a "Tacticool" Savage TR and its a blast to shoot..... although not as accurate as the S&L.

Buying more .22lr ammo in 2018!

Nice! Yep, sometimes it just takes the right gun! :)

1- Go through the selection of .22lr I have to find something my M77/22 rsi stainless shoots well.... it’s too pretty not to be shooting well....

2- Get my oldest shooting his rascal safely and reliably enough that I don’t feel I need to watch him like a hawk when he is shooting at camp.... (he is 90% there, dad is just really picky)....

Great job Dad!, making sure everyone is safe.

Been thinking about a .22 revolver. Come March I'm going to start looking. Perhaps a target scope for a CIL 170 that is currently in pieces. Maybe that old girl will even get some attention (finally), this year.

Oh and buy more ammo.

I'm planning a gopher hunt with two high school friends. We did this lots 25 years ago on my friends cattle farm. So much fun. I bought a new Nikon 4-12 just for this high school reunion.
