My plan is to get really familiar with my first .22 this summer. We are getting some metal targets set up which are really fun to shoot, especially the reseting ones so you don't have to walk back and forth all the time. Then come fall, go hunt some grouse and rabbits with a little more finesse than my 20 gauge. Really looking forward to it. After years of being mildly dismissive of rimfires I bought a .22LR rifle in early summer and I've probably put more rounds through it then every other rifle I own since.
So the goal is more rimfire and I'd like to upgrade to a magazine fed bolt-action (I currently have a single-shot bolt). Budget uncertain, I don't know much about the current state of accurate rimfire rifles.

Now that I have seen the beauty that is a Remington 541.
A new goal for me may be finding one to call my own.
CZ 452 or 455.
I felt pretty much the same as you re rimfires but always had a one in the cabinet...just because. It wasn't until last fall (when I picked up a beautifully restored S&L) that perked my interest in rimfires. I've since added a "Tacticool" Savage TR and its a blast to shoot..... although not as accurate as the S&L.
Buying more .22lr ammo in 2018!
1- Go through the selection of .22lr I have to find something my M77/22 rsi stainless shoots well.... it’s too pretty not to be shooting well....
2- Get my oldest shooting his rascal safely and reliably enough that I don’t feel I need to watch him like a hawk when he is shooting at camp.... (he is 90% there, dad is just really picky)....

Been thinking about a .22 revolver. Come March I'm going to start looking. Perhaps a target scope for a CIL 170 that is currently in pieces. Maybe that old girl will even get some attention (finally), this year.

That's my early thinking, though I'm not adverse to a heavy barrel single shot rifle. Much to ponder.

Anyone else still shoot a 5mm mag for gophers now and then? Like I said in an earlier post I shoot 10-20 rounds an outings because the ammo is so hard to come by.
