Normally the SPRA holds a match on the Vic Day weekend BUT this weekend match has been cancelled this year. We have applied for certification and so we are now busy doing much needed range repairs and maintenance getting ready for the day the CFO/firearms officer comes to inspect us. This range has been in operation since 1988 or so in this location with close to 3 million rounds fired there so I really do not see any problems getting the certification again. Since it may take some time to have the CFO inspect and for us to fix it, I even think the June long range palma matches may be in jeopardy as well. Call President Brian or myself, before you make a long drive for nothing. Bear with us until we are certified again.

Time for a update on this.

May 23 - The North Star range was inspected
June 2 - Minor dirt work started on mantel and bullet impact area
June 9 - Reviewed the results of this inspection, decided on the required work and equipment to become certified for the 338 Lapua and estimated costs involved.
..... ...... On this day we removed all our 15 steel flag poles and the benches at 300m and 1000 yds and a few other items to allow heavy equipment to operate.
June 12 - New holes drilled and installed 13 wooden poles.
June 18 - Dirt work started and was completed on June 20th.
June 23rd - Installed new signage holding new rules and range procedures, a sign in book, and in use/closed sign and removed approx 50,000 lbs of rocks from the range.

This completes the required changes and we are now approved and certified, up to and including 338 Lapua.

The RCMP manual used by the CFO has 223, 308, 338 Lapua and 50 BMG templates. We decided to use and certify to the 338 danger template as this standard covers all the smaller cartridges used in our sport.

Big thank you to the current executive of North Star and the SPRA for completing this in under a month!

Come on out to a match and see all we have done!
