It was a long season up here this year with more snow and cold than many can recall. We got hammered with 18" of snow on Remembrance Day and it hasn't let up, it's even snowing currently.

No wolves or yotes called unfortunately and I believe it was a tough winter for the wolves, I haven't seen much sign around at all.

My small squad in town here did wind up with 2x wolves and 1 coyote and 2 fox between shots of opportunity and trapping.

I called in more fox this year than ever before but I don't usually shoot them since they don't kill big game and I like watching them.

Enjoy the pics.20220128_133124.jpg20220330_082641.jpg20220104_105700.jpg20211222_081428.jpg

South eastern Ontario, we certainly didn't get the snow or the cold like you guys did, but our snow was layered with ice and then more snow, and so on. It made for difficult maneuvers in the bush for sure, and we had some days that were not fit for any human activity other than feeding wood into the stove. Still managed to get out quite a bit, but I personally only shot two coyotes--no resident wolf population in my immediate area, there are the odd ones passing through, and a quick 45-60 mins north in more shield country gets you into better wolf habitat. Congrats on the season, looks like you had fun at least. Beautiful fox! is that called a cross fox?

Yes it is the toughest winter I can remember. On my last stand of the season with the pic of the lynx on the ice I was up to my armpits in snow at some spots to get setup off the trail.

Yep that's a cross fox. He looked completely black when he was coming by and even when I shot him at 150yd I thought he was all black. He'll make a really nice addition to my "keepers" at home.
