2024 deer season is over for me, never had a chance to get out with the rifle. I ended up getting it done with the bow last weekend.

Nice buck, congrats...

Why two different types of fletching?
Good question, back in the day 80's 90's and early 2000's when we all shot fingers, I thought fetching was more forgiving.
I would always put a couple of vanes in my quiver just in case I was hunting in the rain and the feathers laid down. Looks like I am still doing it.
That being said, with today's setups if you are shooting bullet holes while paper tuning I don't think you will be able to see a difference between the two with broad heads at 30 yards. I still think feathers are a little more forgiving if the back of your arrow makes contact with a branch on the way to the target.

I've been bowhunting for close to 50 years, and yes, back in the day, we mostly shot with feather fletching, but mostly switched to veins when we switched to aluminum shafts. My bigger concern would be consistency from shot to shot with different configurations. At 20 yards, it probably won't affect the point of impact much. Feathers might be marginally more forgiving on a sideswipe to a branch, but I wouldn't bet the farm on a good outcome hitting a branch with any arrow. At any rate, if it works for you, it's all good. Nice buck... I'm heading out tomorrow, but the 12 pointer I had been patterning got shot during rifle season. Still have a bead on a decent 10 point and there are a few smaller bucks around... this is just a freezer filler hunt, so I won't be too fussy. Take care and good shooting.
