My hunting season opened up on the 1st, but I can't get out until the 7th. To say I am excited to get out would be an understatement.

In the meantime, post up your successful hunt stories and pics here! try and keep them all in one place so I have an all-in-one place to tide me over until I get to go on my hunts for 10 days...

Well I would consider my last 2 weekend hunts successful as I saw lots of game but was not able to make shots due to legal hunting times or spooking them off while stalking.

Yesterday morning about 15 minutes before legal shooting time I had a massive buck pop out of the bush about 15 yards to the right of my blind. He snorted at me twice so friggin loud it sounded like a Mack truck sneezing its brakes. He then took off as he had obviously made me.

Hopefully the next I’m out I actually harvest. I consider every time I go out and see game a successful hunt. If you got a kill everytime it would be called killing not hunting. 🤣 JMHO

My young fella got his first bird this year with his 410 crickett and a couple more of me and my pooch. I went out moose hunting for a coupel days but didn’t get too serious about it. Bird hunting has taken over my life.

It's been a fun season so far and it's not over yet! Had a great time with 3 dear friends on an antelope hunt that saw all of us tag out, then got to watch my 10 year old shoot his first whitetail and quite a few grouse. Spent a few days chasing bull elk and cow moose -- didn't score, but saw everything I couldn't shoot (bull moose and cow elk - LOL!), and a ridiculous number of grizzlies. With the whitetail rut just about to arrive, the best is definitely still to come.IMG_2641.jpegIMG_2565.jpegIMG_2479.jpegIMG_2344.jpeg

That's awesome seeing you guys fold tags with your kids. I wish my daughters were interested in it. My eldest will go to the range with me occasionally, but just to read by the wood stove. My youngest will shoot paper targets but doesn't want to shoot deer.

I am headed out on Friday and saturday to 156 for a mule buck and a WT doe, then next week spending a week down in 104. I got 3 tags there, and between my other 2 buddies, they have 5. Truck is going to be full if we can fold all 8 tags over 5 days! I am Itching to get out.

ya my boys aren't hunters either..... bugs me but is what it is. My oldest did come on 2 hunts with me over a decade ago + but he wasn't actually hunting, just keeping me company and helping with what he could. I got a deer both trips so we do have those memories together and some photos. Lots of my friends kids hunt though and it's been real fun whenever they join us in hunt camp.
It's been a good season for me so far after filling both my bc region 2 buck tags. On the same hunt my nephew tagged one and my friend's son was lucky enough to connect as well. It was a really fun couple weeks in deer camp.
Then right into mulie and moose hunting here at home and saw a 2x3 buck the first morning and passed on him. Ended up being the only buck i would lay eyes on within shooting distance for the next 2 weeks LOL I'm still a little stunned that i haven't filled my last deer tag yet LOL
Unfortunately during the moose hunt, the 3 tag holders had to leave camp for a few days due to medical and work obligations. One was having heart valve day surgery so what can ya do. As it happens, those were the days that I laid eyes on bulls..... one at 30 yards.....
So October ended with no moose and no bucks LOL.
Still have a month + of deer season to go depending where I hunt. I'd really like to find a pocket with some whitetail..... they are around here, just elusive. Any buck whitetail and 4pt or better mulies for the rest of the month so i gotta get out there.

Went on Saturday and like Hmatt mine was successful seeing about 30 deer mostly muleys and a handful of whitetail (I only have a couple WT tags) which were either on the wrong side of the fences or too far away so theres next weekends plans sorted heheh

Right? Ya thats the way it goes sometimes they are everywhere when you don’t have the right tag , wanted to load a couple vids too but can’t figure it out at the moment

Been on many successful grouse hunts this year, been a good one so far. Got my first chance at sharptails, which was an interesting and often humbling experience, and my first snowshoe hare after many years of searching and attempting. What was really special this year was going with my best friend to get his first grouse, we got two spruce hens right side by side, he got another later in the day and I got one hell of a chase through the woods after a big ole ruffie. An amazing experience and day, probably my favourite hunt I've ever been on, even better than getting my first bird.

Really love seeing the grouse and bird hunting photos in here, no matter what I hunt through the years I think my heart will always be with the grouse, deep in the forest where few bother to go looking.

Haven't taken a lot of nice pics though really, most are kind of scruffy in one way or another, with the exception of this one. Got an absolutely beautiful spruce hen in basically a textbook spot with my favourite shotgun. My reverence for these birds grows each year I go out, they really are a marvel.
