The elusive full color shoveler ,have shot one in over 50 years of chasing ducks and its mounted by a late friend who has passed and resides in a town museum somewhere in northern BC ,useless factoid but love that stamp

Never bagged one.In fact, I do not remember ever seeing one in the wild.

Very common in saskatchewan here they are called the manitoba mallard they leave early don't really like the cold weather
They feed on the water so you never see them in grain fields i have shot a few over the years

I’ve shot at many of them in the past .
Shooting over sloughs in the cranberry fields of East Richmond.
Never hit one , not sure why considering we dropped Mallards and Honkers in the same fields….

The stamps themselves are not sold by Canada Post.The stamp has to be put on the permit Canada Post sells.The stamps themselves are sold by Rousseau Conservation.

We shoot the odd Shoveler on the St.Lawrence river and some of the inland water. Most think theyve shot a mallard until further inspection reveals the difference. Pretty bird

Yep spoonbill swamp duck. Shot a couple years ago. Plucked and gutted out, stuffed and roasted in the oven. Within an hour the whole house stunk like swamp mud, into the trash they went, never again.

If you buy it online you don't need to put the stamp on. I've been using a bit of scotch tape and sticking them on my gun safe.

Shovellers are common here but they're not hunted a lot. Have shot a few coming into mallard decoys on water. They aren't good table fare.

I've shot a few shovelers over the years. They do not taste good at all.

Looks aren't everything. Shot a few and shot no more.
Shovelling mud and eating the rewards does not make good table fare. Like shooting cormorants.
Haven't bought a bird stamp since 2010.

Ive shot mallards that did not taste great either, like anything else it all depends on on what they are feeding on.
