At one time I did a fair bit of research on the 215. I shot them at the Berger Nationals. I have since switched to 185 Juggs. I used 40g of varget as a middle of the road load, had good barrel life too. I went a fair bit higher trying to keep up with Litz and Cortina who were also shooting them at the time. But barrel life was really short, like 800-1200 rounds. Some guys put the wear from the bullet spending too much time in the barrel with a hot powder, this is sort of why 215 in a 300 win. mag. Does not have the same effect it uses slower powders. I definitely have now proof I am not that smart, this is from the guys shooting on the US ftr shooting team. I had a 1/10 barrel. The thing I like the most about them is in twitchy winds they they hold the corce. Jerry from mystic also shot them for a while.
There are some really nice 200g bullets. If you weight sort the Berger 200 are good. There is a guy back east that makes a really nice 200 grain bullet but cant remember his name. He did really well at the Worlds in Ottawa.
