Hey folks,

We've been using the 32 grain blitzkings for coyotes and they work super awesome if you hit the sweet spot. But if you hit a bone they run 100% of the time. Are there any .204 bullets out there that shoot nice and will punch through bone for those shots that drift a little more than I'd like?

Cheers

I have shot fox with the 40gr V-max and they group well out of my Savage. Not sure about their results on coyote yet but its another option for you, a bit heavier bullet anyways. Nosler is another option, they have the 40gr ballistic tip which I haven't tried yet.

Cheers

All the guys in my coyote hunting group that shoot the .204 all use Hornady V max.. some use 32gr some use 40gr.. to be honest i don't see the difference.. no pelt damage and a dead dog is a dead dog. all shots are 350 and under.... some stretch out to the 400 but that's rare but i have never seen a dog run much after a v max hit them and i have seen broken shoulders at the 200 yard mark and the insides are still jelly so i would say it does the job very nicely.

I am a new reloader. Actually, just collecting the components. lol... I have some 32 and 39sbk's ready to go. The 39 seems to be the common denominator among 204 reloaders. Hard to find someone that doesn't like that bullet.
I have shot 45 grain hornady factory rounds. Very accurate out of my tikka and they punch holes thru 3/16 mild steel @ 100M

I have had good luck with the 32gr sbk's, i just aim where the bone isn;t.:D My Tikka doesn't shoot well with the Hornady or Berger slugs that i have tried and haven't gotten around to trying the Nosler bullets i bought, as well some 39 gr sbk's are on the menu. So far the Tikka seems to prefere the lighter bullets.

35grs Bergers or 40s if your rifle will shoot them, they would be way more popular if available in factory loads. I tried the 39gr BKs and they were not too bad for fur friendly, I did get a couple of splashes with them although.
