Your right about the bullet selection... I like the 32gr bullets for groundhogs.
Wind is a huge factor with the light bullets as well. The V-Max even in the 40gr option are too frangible for big dogs.
I am working on some 40gr Ballistic Tip loads and I expect them to kill coyotes out to 400+ yards.
The .204 is awesome in that I can see my bullet strikes in the scope... instantly! With no recoil, minimal cost to load and very little noise... whats not to like.

bullet selection is much more important in the 204. If you dont handload, this can be a big problem as I only see one load made now by factory that would be suitable for yote hunting, the 45 grain Hornady SP.

Cabelas offers the 40 gr Berger in a bulk factory load. Hopefully the factory ammunition selection will filter up here in time.

I've heard it said before that the 22-250 is a barrel burner, How many rounds could one expect to shoot through a gun before accuracy was deminished?

The .22-250 will burn a barell like any other round if you load it too hot. Or, if you shoot in rapid succession without letting things cool down.

Actually, that's a good point. I briefly owned two identical guns - remington XR-100's in .204 and 22-250. You could shoot nearly twice as many rounds through the 204 than the 22-250 before having to cool down

Ive shot yotes with the my .223, 22-250 , 220 Swift and .243, my favorite so far is the 220 Swift but really am itching for a .204 now that the reloading goods are readily available.
I prefer calling in early morning and evening in low wind conditions so a light bullet should ok. The light recoil would also be nice, that was the biggest downfall of my Swift.

Bergers are still the king of the fur bullets, I don't think hornady made enough of a dent with the 45's (though it is a good idea) I suspect we may never see them again (I never did see any in components only).

I use the 35 gr bergers but the BC is not that good so it's probably only has 300 yards in it, though that is plenty for me, the 40's have a better BC but they seem to be used less.

22-250 good pass 250 yard on yotes zero recoil and makes no mess out of the Coyote pelt.
