.204 or .223

I shoot alot.
.204...Not a barrel burner..flat shooter...buck wind good..less recoil
.223..Not a barrel burner...cheap ammo...more ft/lbs on target...not a flat as .204
Thanks

If you're comparing bullets of similar weight, the .204 actually puts more ft/lbs of energy on target than the .223.

I've been contemplating purchasing one of these .204 rifles instead of a bolt action stainless .223 Ruger M77 MKII(as I love this rifle) ... however, ammunition in my area is limited ... Hmmmm what to do eh? As for punching paper, coyotes and varmints ... I don't see why a .223 isn't enough rifle to shooooost them ... including a bloody deer ... we shooooost tuktu(caribou), nanuq(polar bear), Umingmak(muskox) and other animals with a .223 and it works ... but I guess experience is the key!? Good luck on your choice and hopefully you wind up loving what you buy and shoot ... ;)

i don't think i'd go up against a polar bear with a .223 unless it was a 30rd mag, lol

how easy is it to get brass/components to reload .204 vs .223?
i need a gopher rifle and had settled on .223 just because its tried and true but flat shooting is a very nice thing, and since reloading makes them cost about the same...

I haven't found it terribly difficult to get .204 components, and although some people still think there isn't much variety among .20 cal bullets, I made a list a couple days ago (and I'm probably missing a few others):

lol, looks like alot of choice. .22 hornet uses the same size bullet right? that has been around forever

how about brass? able to order it like you order .223 brass?

No, .22 Hornet is the same bullet diameter as the .223, while .204 Ruger is .20 caliber. Its smaller.

Yep, while not as broadly available as .223 brass, I've been able to find it, mostly Winchester and Hornady brass.

well thats good enough for me. i dont mind ordering bits over the internet at all and .204 seems to beat out the .223 in anything related to gophers
