.204 or .223?

these graphic descriptions will attract antis...watch it LOL
i would go with .223 just cause lots of it around

I will proudly tell them what I am doing is to benefit the Bald Eagle and other Raptors.

They cart off all the kills, eat well, and have more egrets. It's win win. I get target practice, raptors eat fresh organic meat, and the only 'cleanup' that needs to be done is taking my brass home for reloading.

I have 2 CZ527 rifles, 1 in 223 and the newest in 204. I bought the 204 because it was a huge deal and thought I could resell for a nice profit, then I shot it. My 223 sits in the safe now and the 204 is my go to varmit/plinking round because I can see it hit through the scope. No recoil blur getting in the way of seeing where the bullet struck and what a strike. Crows become clouds of feathers, bunnies are decapitated and golphers are reduced to 4 legs and a tail. Get both if you can, but, be prepared to see the 223 in the safe more than in the field once you shoot the 204.

Cheers

You can't put a price on the entertainment value

'Gutless in Canada... brought to you by the .204 Ruger'

Guts blown out... fur shredded, about the only thing still attached to the spine is the meat. And I think some of that came off too!

Good job, you just made a member of Greenpeace/PETA pass out. :p

I would go .223. Far better availability.
I heard .204 ruger fouls the barrel really bad too.

Its a good thing you only heard that the 204 ruger fouls the barrel really bad.

Its not true. If you have a good barrel it won't foul. If you have a rough barrel it will foul. But the 223 will foul just as bad in a rough barrel.

I shoot a 204 ruger and from first hand experience I know that it still shoots well after 50 shots down the bore. It also cleans very easliy after too.

Friend of mine has a 223 he has used for coyote/varmint shooting for the past 3 years. He is seriously consideration changing to the 204 since shooting one on the gopher range last weekend.

Me, I am going to stay with the .243 with 58gr VMax at 3900fps. Shoots a 3/8" group at 100yds. Makes gophers a red mist and scatters pieces all over. I can hold it fairly steady enough to see the damage most times. Gets me used to both that and the .308 with 100gr VMax's so that hunting season is still dialed in for shooting when it rolls around.
However, that being said, I think it is time to tinker around with a new wildcat round...the 204 short magnum...should be able to throw a 50gr bullet at over 4000fps...

So nice I got both calibers 204 is sweet. Tap The trigger and its there, but I use my 223 for hunting more cuz it's an Abolt and I can use it with gloves on a whole bunch easier, cost to reload is about the same. Still tho if that ablot was in 204 , the 223. Would be another safe queen
