.204 Ruger/.223 Rem and a nice budget~what would you buy?

Thanks for the input~sounds like some nice varmint guns coming/going from your place! I've seen the 222 in action, they're a nice varmint gun for sure. Hadn't really considered that caliber for myself, so I'll give it some thought. I've also never heard anyone describe a gun as "she's a love maker", but I can relate to that level of affection for a rifle or shotgun! :) Doesn't sound like too many endorsements for the .204 though. Hmmm

With the 8" barrel twist in the 223 virtually any weight of bullet that you choose for varmints will shoot really well.... and don't believe that crap about the 'plastic' parts breaking, only abuse would do that.

I've considered, and re-considered Tikka...but I just can't bring myself to buy one. Every time I hold one, I can't get around how cheap the stocks/mags feel, and how ridiculously large the mags are for .223/.204. I know they're trying to standardize mag size/stocks but it seems like a real compromise considering what they charge for the rifles. The actions are buttery-smooth though. BTW~I haven't any concerns about Tikka's plastic being weak...or failing...it's just that any plastic stock that makes a Savage synthetic stock look good probably won't have a place in my safe. I have friends who love them though.
