204 Ruger velocity

I've finally got around to getting a set of dies and was wondering how fast are others pushing these to?

Average I've seen is around mid 37-3800 fps. Although I've seen/read of up to 4100's, there's no need to push it into that realm imo

I've made a few loads now mostly on the lighter side. As far as accuracy goes they are perfect. I don't have a crono yet but when I get one I wanted to see how fast I can get one of these suckers moving, mostly for fun but a little part of me wants to increase the pink mist factor on gophers.

using h335, 4064 I had serious trouble hitting factory stated velocities, pressure signs long before.

Factory claimed velocities rarely pan out when put to the test.

I know the train of thought over on PHC (when the h*ll is that gonna be back online anyways??) was always the 35gr Bergers or 39gr SBKs'

Benchmark, Varget, XBR 8208 or CFE 223 are the most common powders being used. What primers are you working with?

+1 for H4895, with 26.5grs under a 26gr Varmint Grenade giving the best accuracy in my rifle out to 200 yards. I have always loaded for best accuracy not speed. Going to try 32 and 39 gr bullets, if I can find some place to test out past 200 yards.

I shoot them in a 1 in 10 twist Pac-Nor barrel, otherwise the 50 gr Berger wouldn't fly. Fortunately it also enjoys everything else from 32 gr on up. (Re PHC, I think its pretty much toast).

I figured you had some sort of faster twist going on with the 50grs.

Shame, wonder if anyone would be willing to pick up the reigns and carry PHC on?

Very same components but slightly less powder is getting me 2800fps got to love the bltz kings in a tikka.

+1, two model 12 savages at 28 and 28.6 grs shoot very well

a very good friend of mine swears by RL10X for his .204 Tikka T3 Varmiter. I dont know his powder charge but he is using 39gr SBK and can pick off pop cans well past 300 shot for shot.. looks like 1 itty bitty hole at 100.. im very impressed with it.. all i can tell you is its a Hornady case and CCI BR4 primer.
