My girlfriend really wants a .204 ruger and she wants a rifle that is all camo. So my choice was going to be easy a Savage 10 Predator. Only problem is she's a smaller framed woman (5'2" 110) and my .22-250 in a 7 pound rifle is a little more recoil than she likes. (she's used to magnum rimfires) I have only shot the .204 in guns about 10lbs so I am not sure what the recoil would be like in a sporter weight. Any one who has shot both in a sporter weight (7.5lbs) that can comment on recoil it would be apreciated. Otherwise I will just go with the heavier rifle and get her a good set of sticks to shoot off of. thanks in advance.

virtually none, I have shot a remington VSF I think?? and it was about 7.5 -8.0 lbs and there was so little recoil I could spot my own shots shooting at rocks 300 yards away, I didn't think there was anymore than say a 22mag

Are you guys shooting heavy barreled varmint guns or sporter weights? The VSF lists at 8.5lbs. Thanks for the imput so far.

I shoot a Remington 700 VLS (heavy) and a CZ 527 American (light). No recoil worth speaking of. The 'recoil' is on the other end, at the target. ;)

Sounds to me as if it's the muzzle blast and not the recoil she's noticing. Get her to double up on the hearing protectors and the "recoil" should dissappear.
