204 Ruger

this round is awesome! already love it and thinking about selling my 22-250!

Yup.. FAST/FLAT/GRAPHIC.... less drift and drop than the 223 or 22-250 and more velocity (best bullet weight for accuracy)

Sold my .223's and 22-250, and converted to the Church of the 204Ruger!!!

No regrets about doing it either. 3 Rifles in the safe all in 204, and the lone 223 is the service rifle (which I would LOVE to do in 20 practical!!!)

I have one 223rem target rifle, and the rests of my centerfire 22s are gone. My 20 Tactical shoots the 39gr Blitzking in the .2s for three shots, at 3900fps.

whats your powder charge with Benchmark and the 32's? Are they BK's or VMax? I shot 32gr BK's and 28gr of Benchmark not as well as other loads...

Im away for work at the moment but i know i settled on a load with Benchmark and H322.. cannot recall which is which but when i get home ill send you a PM.. the lead is the 32gr Sierra BK.. velocity was 3900(fastest i could get them going for accuracy) hornady Brass and CCI BR4 primer.
These Loads Kill coyotes just as dead as my 22-250 with 50gr v max at 3950fps(H4895 :) )

I am also using 40gr V max with RL10x @ 3800-3850(depends on temp) getting under 1/2" groups.

I have a Cz Varmint, after a bit of bedding work, its very accurate now, wont stabilize the 40gr v-max which, is a bit disappointing, some day I shall have to try the 39gr blitz.
28gr benchmark, CCI 400 and 32 v-max,
28gr H4895, CCI400 and 35gr berger, HP
or 26gr Varget with the 45gr hornardy soft point,

I believe it was a fellow in Alberta (or somewhere out west) who was making them about five or six years ago. I don't remember his name off hand, though CGN member B-78 probably does.

the name was WILDCAT BULLETS of Westaskiwin, AB
The owner sold the business to a Yankee who hasn't done anything with it.

Try some H322 and small mag rifle primers.

I've been shooting my CZ 527 Kevlar for the last multiple weeks developing a handload.
The only bullet I am interested in using is the Berger 35 gr.
I started by seating the bullet so that it fits the magazine and reduced the overall length in 15 thou incriments. Best accuracy was with bulelts seated about 1/4 inch deeper then the length of magazine. The best powders todate for accuracy and lowest chrony numbers have been with IMR8208 and N133 ( 3750-3810 fps)
Even though H322 H4895 Benchmark and TAC were good...they weren't consistent.
I didnt try RL10 or Varget
Using Norma brass and CCIBR4 primers
Redding competition dies and Type S Neck bushing die.

Could be a die issue with the .40 Vmax. I am using Redding Comp and Forster Mic Seating dies, and have had excellent results. Crazy to have 400.00 loaded into a toolhead, but I wonder if cheaper dies have issues with concentricity/depth etc??

ya, my 527 shot the 40 V max better than the 39 blitz king which was very surprising to me. thats ok though, they are cheaper. have some 35 bergers on the way to try out.

I also have lee colet dies and a forester seater on the way, as well as a neck turner. I have hornady brass and was getting a bit of run out. when will Lapua start making brass?! looking forward to loading some with the better dies and turned brass.

My accuracy expectations with the 204R in the CZ527 Varmint using Berger 35's is too see 250" or better @ 100 yds.
I've had a lots of 1/2" groups using H4895 H322 Benchamark TAC and even tighter groups with IMR8208 and N133
These last 2 powders were loaded to the base of the shoulder whereas the others were at the base of the neck.
