It not standard.
Ifcyouxdocdrill and tap only ise a remington 87 patten base and make sure you remove the bbl before you drill so cyou don't damage the barrle
Fyi we make a quality m1913 spec scope base for the 870 with a slot down the middle so can still see you bead.
 
The short rail piece I grabbed is only about 1.5"-2". Long enough to fit the two forward most holes out of the three that are currently tapped into the top of the receiver. It's for a micro red dot I just picked up.
