Anyone sell 20ga spreader loads in Canada? 2.75" #7.5 would be fine. Trying to avoid choke work on a fixed modified and use it for grouse.

Any related comments are welcome.

My only experience with spreader loads were home rolled. I'm likely hunting grouse in some very similar if not the same cover as you and a modified choke #6's and a 20 is my preference. Of course I am not hunting behind a pointer but a cocker and a lab.

I was going to say that if you reload, make up some old-style felt wads, not modern plastic shot cup wads. But then you'd have to look for felt wads and probably cardboard fillers, so your best bet might just be buying a box or two of old ammo from the early 70s or earlier.

I have had good luck opening up a tight choked 16 bore by placing a short piece of milk shake straw in the shot column. 20 bore spreaders don't appear to be loaded by any of the big outfits. Reloading may be required. Even if you can open some 1 oz. Remington or whatever slightly and wiggling in a straw section and re crimp on a press if available.

Couldn't you just cut the wings off a plastic wad? Or maybe cut them at different lengths/angles so it trys to spin? Nothing says spread like spin!

Yes, you can shorten the petals on a wad but you have to deal with the increased volume. I am quite underwhelmed with the BPI X spreader performance.
