20mm anyone?

I think Rick at Alberta Tactical has a 20mm.
IIRC components are the biggest deal.

I believe he said it was 200 pounds or so.

at "ONLY $11,900" it would be worth just as much as a Honda Civic. That is, if the weight didn't permanently damage the rear suspension. (just by the ammo alone)

have you PRICED a civic LATELY?- they're right up there with the rest of the sub-compacts- 11,9 won't near cut it

Not legal limit just our range limit :( . I have not herd of any range that is set up for 20mm shooting other then the military one`s here in ab .... the explodeing rounds would be badass is all I was showing by the video :)

In Canada, small is scary, so short barreled handguns are prohibitied.
In the other place, big is scary, so most rifles over 50 cal are considered Destructive Devices.

Short answer: 20mm is allowed here.
(good luck feeding it, though. I still havent fired my 14.5mm PTRD yet.)

For the record, the Finnish Lahti anti-tank rifle is a 20mm. Didn't someone on here post pics of one they had a while back?

The Anzio gun in the first post is 20x102mm (the Vulcan aircraft round, although it is probably the percussion version, not the electric primer type)

The Finnish Lahti L-39 uses an entirely different round, the 20x138B (B for belted) round.
The Swiss Solothurn S-1100 also uses the same round. I have ONE in my cartridge collection, and a while back I mentioned it. I soon had a guy from here that had just bought himself a Solothurn hounding me to sell him my one round!

You are correct I do own a 20mm Lahti.:D I have also rebuilt several others for other guys.
The Lahti is just over 150 lbs and as tootall mentioned ammo is a royal ##### to get.:(
There are several Lahtis also a few Solothurn 20mms in Canada that I am aware of. A few of which reside here in the shop until I get around to finishing them.
Interestingly both the Lahti and the Solothurn are semi automatics that came with 10 rnd mags, it took some convincing but finally the CFC granted an exemption so that they are classed as non restricted firearms and legal with the 10 round mags.

Recoil is similar to shooting a 10 guage shotgun.
Mike at Anzio has the advantage of being able to get surplus 20mm Vulcan ammo which is quite cheap in the US. I looked into building something similar, the problem in Canada is getting ammo as anything over 49 caliber is no longer legal to export from the US. I have yet to find any Canadian surplus ammo being available in any caliber.

Ah... the Lathi!

About 8-9 years ago, a guy from NB had one for sale.... $5,000
I thought it would be been a "fun" and "interesting" gun to have, but couldn't any source of ammo... other than a shop in the US selling reloading components. Had real chuckle when I read the smallet poweder container they sold were 25lbs keg.

Any thing over .50 is considered a DD and you can pay the 200 dollar tax and own one.I have shot one and recoil was not to bad. The tax is the same with a 20mm or 90mm the biggest cartridge I have seen a civilian own. (a howitzer)

let me see....

Someone said $11,900 for the gun?
THen about $400,000 for a small (long and skinny farm) to shoot it on as our range wont allow it.
Buy a machine shop to turn the bullets.

Sounds simple enough. Where do I sign?

Seriously though, I guy could really do the Dirty Harry, Now THAT is a gun thing with this puppy.

Nice Rick!

Has anyone ever developed a rifle that would accurately use the performance of the 14.5X114?
What an amazing round!

I assume components remain near impossible to get?

Oh good. I see you're still spreading misinformation. Super.

Read the second post I cant sit here all day and explain every thing I type

Had a Lahti back in the 70's. Paid just under $500 for it as I recall, lol. once I shot the 10 rounds it came with, it became a closet queen (no safe in those days). Eventually I sold it because I couldn't get ammo for it. Wasn't even restricted (or even registered) back in those days. Range was a gravel pit NW of Spruce Grove. Fun gun. - dan
