.22-243 Middlestead Load Data

Instead of jacking the .22 CHeetah thread I figured I'd make a new one. Who here is running a Middlestead and with what twist? What have you tried for loads? Anything appear to literally shoot the lights out through your gun?

So far the only thing I've had a chance to shoot through mine is:

Lapua Brass
CCI 200 Primer
Lapua 69 gr. Scenar
44.5 grains IMR 4831
I'm shooting an OAL of 2.650" which is about 10kth off the lands.
Shot 4 into a fairly tight hole at 100 yards and sprayed a 5th enough to see paper between the holes.
Average Speed: 3658 FPS

Gun is:
Remington 700 BDL Action (Blueprinted - Bolt Trued)
Lilja 1-9" twist 27" barrel
Trigger 2.2 lbs

I'm planning on testing out the 73 gr. Berger VLDs with H4831 SC and some 55 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips with H4350. I'll post up a few pics of paper after I get back home but here's two of the gun for now.

I am just about to load up a bunch and have been reading here.

Sounds like I gave away all of my heavy .224 cal bullets too soon......... :p

I was going to load up some 52 gr HPBT match bullets to see what kind of accuracy I would get. Looks like most folks are shooting the heavier pills.

I am thinking I will use .22-250 data and work up from that.

What twist barrel do you have?

Good question. The fellow from whom I bought it did not know.

It started life as a Remington 788 in .22-250, and I am guessing that the twist is fairly slow, maybe 1:14.

I dumped my heavy bullets when my 1:8 .223 went to a new home........

Yes, H4350 comes up often in what data I can find on-line. There is a big jump up from .220 Swift/.22-250 data, so I am going to take it easy in the load development...........
