22-250 ammo question

Hey everyone, just picked up a 22-250 and had a question about amo. The gun I am using had a 22" barrel with a 1:12 twist rate, the guy at cabelas recommended the Remington 55 grain psp. Just looking up ballistics for them, and noticed that the Hornady Vmax 55 grain is a little bit flatter shooting. I am using this gun pretty much only for coyotes or the odd critter around the farm but I do a lot of coyote hunting in the winter so I wanted a coyote purposes rifle. My question is which of the 2 bullets would be better for coyote hunting? I'm not looking for easiest on pelts I want something that expands quick and will kill them the fastest. I know shot placement is obviously a huge factor in how quickly something dies, mainly just want to know which one will expand quickest and do the most damage to whatever I am shooting. Thanks.
 
Vmax shoot flatter and drift less in the wind due to a higher Ballistic Coefficient (more aerodynamic) - I don't see the point in shooting a soft point bullet in a 22-250 unless it was about supply/price. I'd bet 90% of the time a Vmax will group tighter too, they're very consistent bullets
 
I guess it depends on many factors. My Ruger 1V has a 1:9 twist rate in a 24" bbl. It throws those cheapie little Winchester 40 round packs of 45gr JHP's with an advertsed MV of 4000 fps with amazing accuracy(3 bullets touching @100yds). However I have to say I find them a bit lightweight for instantaneous kills on coyotes. If I can make a head shot no issue obviously but I generally shoot for the boiler room. I have shot about 10 coyotes to date with them and to date each one with the exception of one which I shot in the head either went down and took a minute or two to expire or ran as far as 35 yards after the hit before dropping dead. I shot one two weeks ago at 207 yards with a 45 JHP, a perfect boiler room hit. It went down and could not get back up but I had to finish it off with a second round behind the ear. I have shot a couple with 50 gr JHP American Eagle brand and both were instant kills with no pelt damage. I have shot the Hornady's in both 50 & 55 gr V-Max but my rifle didn't throw nice groups with them so I have never bought them again since. I have a few boxes remaining still of Federal 55 gr V-Shok ballistic tips and though my groupings are larger than the 45 & 50 gr JHP's they are still around an inch + at 100 yards and are an absolutely devestating round on coyotes. If you are not worried about pelt damage try some of them out. I have shot a few yotes with them and every one was almost cut in half on the exit hole side.

A bullet that has always performed for me is the Remington Power Lock HP.
50 or 55 grain in .224 or 80 grain in .243.
This bullet was Remington's Match bullet in the past.
