22-250 for dear

I would not deliberately take my 22 centerfires hunting big game. However, I always carry a few 60 Partitions or 53 TSX [Yes, they stabilize in my 1-14" 220 Swift] in case a decent shot at a deer or black bear presents itself. The net result has been three black bear that did not know what hit them! Careful shot placement and proper bullet choice, and these will get the job done. The 60 Partition does a fair amount of damage at Swift velocities, very similar to the 85 Partition from a 6mm. The TSX exited even a 350 lb blackie broadside with lungs looking pretty sad. Certainly there are better choices for deer sized game, but to say they are woefully inadequate is not true at all. Eagleye.

i wouldn't buy a 22-250 just because it is too powerful for my 22 centerfire uses and i wouldn't buy it as a deer rifle, but, i have used it on deer with no problems.

i have seen people that i have hunted with have problems killing deer with the 243WCF, 7mm RM, and 30-06. all instances were due to poor shot placement.

I used Sierra 63g SP in my Ruger M77 but luckily realized, when I went gopher hunting with it,that the bullet was meant for varmints.Shortly after that Sierra introduced the 65g Gameking. It wouldn't stabilize in my Ruger so I bought a 1in9" Savage.Have yet to work up a good load for it or use it on deer sized game.I'll be doing that this year.I'll try it on smaller animals first though. No repeat mistakes here.
