Hello, I recently purchased a Remington LVSF with a 1 in 14" twist in a 22 inch barrel. Any suggestions about a good load for this rifle? It will be used primarily for medium distance plinking and critter use. I'm not looking for any "maxed out" loads, just some suggestions for an accurate and safe all around load. Any opinions would be appreciated. Best regards. Art

One of the "classic" 22-250 loads is a 55 gr. bullet over 38.0 grs. of Hodgdon H380 powder. That would be a good place to start. I personally like the 55 gr. Nolser Ballistic Tips, but there are lots of good bullets on the market. A 50 or 55 gr. bullet will probably be nest with your rifle's twist rate.

22-250s are awesome varminters, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with yours!

The majority of factory .22-250's have the 1-in-14 twist. Your rifle should comfortably shoot bullet weights in the 40 to 55 gr range, and you may find it likes the 50's the best. IMR 4064 is a great powder for the .22-250.

I loaded for 3 .22-250's, 2 of them liked Varget best and the other liked IMR 4064. The best bullets for 2 of them where 52g HPBT's and the other liked a 50g V Max. The groups from all 3 rifles ranged from 1/2" down to 1/4" for the best one, a model 70 Winchester.

Never saw a 22-250 that did not like IMR 4064. Try 52 gr. BTHP match Hornady's... inexpensive and shoot well infront of 34 or 35 grains of the aformentioned.
