.22-250 or .243?

Any that you particularly recommend? I got a .243 this year and am liking it for both roles. I've used some factory Hornady with 100g SST and old Federal Classic 80 grain for testing and practise and reloaded with Hornady 100g Interlocks for deer season. When it's over, I'll shoot the rest of them off at the range and want to reload for coyotes through the winter.

I don't think there are enough deer left from last winter to be sharing them with coyotes this one.

I shoot 100gr hornady sst like you, they do the job but sometimes if you hit a rib(s) the cape is wrecked. I still havent found a nice solid 65(ish) bullet yet, until then ill just lighten up the loads a bit so they dont fly out at 3000 fps. I havent tried the sierras yet but im going to try the 70gr HPBT matchkings. See what they do..

The .22-250 is probably in the top 3 calibers for coyotes ever. Since you are also shooting deer I would be really tempted to make the move up to .243. I have shot coyotes with 58 grain v-max over H4895 and they kill them but they can be messy. They will shoot nice tight groups in the 70-80 grain bullets per normal factory twist (typically). Have friends that will shoot deer with 100 + grain .243 rounds and they work quite nicely. Not coming out blazing fast but still enough to do a fine job within reasonable ranges.

Its very tough to beat a 22-250 for yotes. You don't really need the power a 22-250 brings to the table for yotes, but the flat trajectory is spectacular.

I used a 22-250 for coyotes and it dropped them instantly.

39.5 gr H-380
55 gr Hornady SX

I always wanted a 220 Swift though. Christmas is just around the corner.....

I use a 58gr moly coat V-Max. Unreal explosions inside, rarely exits unless under 50yds. Not near my books right now, so can't give you actual chronys on it, but it is above max listed load and 3800fps range seems right. Got a buddy who loves his .22-250 and shoots it well! We were shooting gongs at 500yds and we realized we had left the spray paint can beside it. He hit it with the second round and then we lost it.

Wife shoots deer with hers throwing a 100gn Federal blue box round at it. Knocks them down every time.
