I maybe buying a weatherby vanguard s2, 22-250 with a 20" barrel. Should be good for 300 to 350yds shots? What do you fellas think?

you shouldn't get enough velocity loss to matter, and having a short 20" barrel will oftentimes be stiffer, therefore accuracy potential is enhanced. (notice I said potential, not actual, as lots of other factors come into play)

Seems like a short barrel for a hot cartridge, bit of muzzle blast. But I wouldn't hesitate on it. Nice short little carbine and as Sgt.Rock said it may not effect accuracy.

A 20" barrel on a 22-250 makes about as much sense as a Ferrari with mudders on it....it will work but it isn't what it was designed for. The whole Idea with a 22-250 is velocity...but that's just my take on it.
enjoy!

In my experience .223's do better in short barrels than .22/250's... I have experienced more overall loss of velocity per inch with .22/250 than .223... that however should not determine your decision... handling and feel are primary concerns... particularly if you reload.

What is the twist on that short barrel? I'd be leery if it was 1:14 and short to boot. I'd want a 1:9 twist for a short barrel, so I could experiment with bigger bullets than 50-55 gr and different speed powders to see what was most efficient. I'd personally welcome a challenge like that. But if I was handicapped with a slow twist, thus limiting my choice of bullets to smaller ones, I'd probably pass.
