Hello everybody, my name is Gary, and I'm a 22 Addict. I was first introduced to this addicting behavior by my father at age 6 or 7. Over the following 5 decades I have sent untold numbers of these rounds down range and to what end? Time spent with father, brothers, and friends both old and new for sure and an ever growing respect for nature. Additionally I learned that haste makes waste, but that at times it is fun to just fire off as fast as you safely can, and that care and diligence reap rewards.

But what is most addicting about the 22 rimfire is that you can get the little buggers in every style of action out there!!!! and you know you want to fill that niche, sometimes more than once or twice or even more times. Single shot? You betcha, same for bolt action, lever action, pump, and of course semiautomatic. But that was just the rifle category what about the handguns! Again we have single shots, revolvers, both single action and double action, and the automatics, oh the autoloaders, not only the guns that look like 22s but the guns that look like bigger caliber guns too, the 22 caliber 1911s and 9mm look a likes.

Oh LORD yes I am a 22 addict. I ask not to be cured but for only enough ammo to keep shooting.

im afraid to count how many 22's i have because than i will have to buy my wife something expensive.
its better for all involved if i just don't count.

but i could probably shoot a new 22 each day of the month and not have to double up.
sad thing is i have 2 more that im planning to pick up this winter and a build im wanting to start this winter as well.

my hope is that when i die the executor of my estate will open my gun safes and be like "........ what the hell!"

I dont shoot as many rounds per outing as I used to but im at the club every Sunday.
Recently i havent found LR to be enough so i bumped up to a 22 wmr.
Wish i would have had one years ago. It may be my favorite caliber!
I only have a couple semis and a few bolt actions RIGHT NOW.
I have plenty of other guns but the 22's get out the most.

Guilty as charged...I just like 22's,mainly old ones....easy to shoot, cheap, fun, great to hunt with( 'chickens are easier to carry than moose ) ..when my wife said 'you don't need another 22,you already have 25 22's ' I said 'that's a diabolical lie,I most certainly do not have 25 22's( I had 28,and that was several aquisitions ago) now when she accuses me of not 'needing' another 22,I heartily agree with her, I don't need another one, I'm buying them for the grandchildren...gone through 9 grandchildren and last weeks purchase was for Islay( she is 9 months old) besides, there's nothing like taking your grandchildren out to shoot 22's....

My only self imposed restriction is to try and not to buy anything younger than I am....and I'm 69..but those RIA 10/ 22clones at wholesale sports for $139 were just too tempting to pass up ( that one was for Islay...)

You know you have too many when you have 3 gun safes. 2 for Rimfire, and one for everything else.

This is my new standard. I had planned to stop at 5 guns. Since that did not work out, I feel the aforementioned goal is attainable. Baby Steps.

Anonymous...

Close to 5 decades shooting 22LR for me also... will always have a few in the cabinet.

I like all guns, but reach for the rimfires most. I've still never owned a big-ticket 22 like a top-shelf Anschutz..but I often wonder if I'd enjoy it anymore than the rifles I have now. Current favourite is a BRNO 2E, but if it's a 22...I generally like it. :) Would love to get a nice field-grade Anschutz with a heavy barrel to see what it's capable of..and..I'd love to find a Rossi (SAC) blued pump-action 22. I don't have allot of rimfires...but would like to think there is room for a couple more. 22s have always held a special place in my heart...but even more since spending a full week patrolling gopher fields with one this past spring. GREAT time.

I shoot 22 long distances, 100 meters very challenging, you need to know how your gun shoots to get out that far and further currently working on 125 meters now.
