22 ammo article I highly recommend.

Great timing for these articles, I want to start shooting some CRPS style matches this year, trying to figure out ammo. I've read online that some prefer subsonic ammo for better consistency, others swear by CCI SV. Good read, thanks for sharing.

If you have a chronograph, you should test ammo in your rifle for lowest extreme velocity spread with target/match ammo and settle on which would be best to use at longer distances and whether the costs of the ammo are justifiable.

I gave ton45-II some of my 1976 vintage Eley black box match ammo to test and he was pleasantly surprised at the low extreme spread. Then I gave him enough to do the match which helped him do very well in the standings.

The Vintage Eley Black boxes that diopter gave me was, not surprising, extremely consistent and put me in the podium on a crapping shooting day. Surprising that it gave me a higher than standard velocity, 1122 fps, but worked out for my hold over out to 350 yards. The accurateshooter findings I believe was dead on. The Eley Match ranked the top consistently. I wish they continued their test out to 150 and 200 yards.

So far, I practice with CCI standard vel and come competition day it's the ELEY match. Luckily for me, the zero is the same for both ammo in my 16.5 Savage FVSR - production :)

I have access to a chrono, I'll run a few brands over it. Thanks for the suggestion.
