.22 ammo shortage and buying a new .22?

There is bulk ammo available at $30-35 for 500+, and bricks for $35-40.

Center fire pistol ammo is $20 - 40 for 50 rounds and users blast it away like there is no tomorrow.

Yet when I tell them 22 Match ammo is work $10-20 a box they look at me like my next stop is as a self admitted candidate for the psych ward.

These five groups are worth about $20 yet 50 rounds of pistol ammo with a greater semblance of a shotgun pattern board is viewed by some as a greater accomplishment.

Different strokes for different folks!

i have to agree. i like sk standard + a mid priced 22. costs me about $6 for 50 rounds. for how well it shoots its quite inexpensive. .

I dont remember all 22 ammo being unobtainium. Just abit harder to find. Prices are way up, IMO.
Yes CCI has always been more expensive, but still under $10 a brick out the door.
Yellowjacket and subsonic are now $50 so the same cost. I remember when it was 7¢ not 10¢.
Sure it doesnt seem like alot and compared to centerfire, we should be really happy.
However I shoot 22 because its cheap. If I wanted to shoot expensive ammo, I wouldnt have sold my .223 and wmr.

There is no shortage of .22 ammo, just a shortage of good deal for buying bulk. I've been closely watching for case lot sales and there has been next to none, but every store has .22 ammo by the box.

This is simply untrue. Every retailer will tell you they cannot order their normal supply of 22 ammo. Every one. They used to place an order and it would get filled, Not true now. Just because some exists where you live does not mean it exists every where.

The fact is, you can still find 22 ammo
The fact is they are making it as fast as they can
The fact is 22 ammo is getting bought at a faster pace than ever before
The fact is 22 ammo is not in constant supply, and is intermittently showing up at retailers in unexpected quantities and unexpected times

Shortage Yes! Hard to find what you want, and in quantities you want? Yes, But still available, and it will likely always be available, so OP buy your 22 as you will be able to find ammo for it, it will just take more work than it used to……..until the ammo situation slows down.

I was just at Hub sports in Abbotsford (won't help OP).

They have a lot of CCI, Federal and Remington .22LR.

They don't have any cheap bulk packs but I bought a few CCIs for my AA Glock conversion kit plus a few other odds and sods.
