.22 ammo.... What's best?

My Henry manual lists .22short as useable. No warning about cci .22 short.
In fact I LOVE shooting those in my Henry the most!

I even contacted Henry to verify what was ok to shoot and they said anything goes including high velocity cci stingers.

another thumbs up for 525 Federal bulk packs.

I put over 3K rounds through my 10/22 in 1 weekend last year without a single hiccup other then a friend not charging it correctly. More then 6 bulk packs through 'butler creek steel lips' mags basically all rapid fire plinking at soda cans.

Out of what I have shot so far with my 10/22:

Like- Mini-Mags, American Eagle, Blazers (the good ones with clear plastic holder), Peters, Federal 525s (pretty much in that order)

Dislike - Blazers (the ones with white plastic holder-lotsa stovepipes, many others barely eject), Golden Bullets-(some weak loads/flyers), Winchester 555s-(stovepipes, misfires)

Indifferent- Winchester M22 (grouped and cycled well but had 3 misfires and a few Super X rounds mixed in box)

Whatever your gun likes.

My Marlin 60 was a tack driver with Federal 525s, the Marlin 7000 seems to really like Winchester 555s, and the Cooey 60 is ridiculous with Remington Subsonics.

For me the best 22 ammo is Remington Subsonics, they are by far the most accurate in my 10/22 and in the 36 years I have been shooting it I have tried so many other .22 offerings. They are also quite good for gophers with the hollow point and lesser report.

Anyone found a difference between the 525 and the 500 packs?

I've got both, shot both....the only difference = 1 less reload in my BC 10/22 mags lol

My .22lr ammo preferences for the record (In order): CCI mini-mag, CCI Blazer, Federal HP, Federal LRN.

I've started saving my Federal HP for small game/varmint stuff now....or if I want to test terminal effects on oranges and melons lol
