22 Ammunition, The Best and Worst, You Opinion Please.

I do have cci minimags...but don’t use them often...run federal bulk through all my semi autos...slightly higher FPS..and cycles without issue...

+++ Fed 525s in everything. WIN 555s not so much (dirty and more duds). Want to try minimags but haven't found an excuse to try them yet, 525s seem to work for me.

I’m with you on the win 555...bought a couple of thousand when .22 was in very short supply...still have 1950...think that says it all..

I don't think I've ever actually seen Eley in real life anywhere I've shopped... that being said, Mini Mags work for me, and the CCI SV are tack drivers in my Savage MKII. I just finished my first (and last) bulk box of Thunderbolts. Man, that stuff is dirty! Jams up my bolts, but strangely, my Norc M93 ran through about 300 without a pickup (shy of the requisite duds every other mag). Don't think I've ever hit a dud with CCI..

Best ammo I've used - Eley Match - but it's pricey!!!!

As far as the worst - Winchester Wildcat by FAR. That ammo is junk - I won't shoot it in any .22 I have or have access to.

I've always found blazer (non 525 bulk pack) to work the most consistent. Very few misfires, no feeding issues and more than accurate enough for target practice.

Strangely enough the bulk packs I've bought always had way more misfires, and usually they're not much cheaper than just buying 500 rounds of the non bulk.

As posted earlier Eley are considered by many as the best, with RWS a contender.

I now buy CCI Green Tag + Federal (and rim gauge the lot). Sometimes Aquilla.

These then feed 6 rim fires to a fair standard. It is very true that each rifle prefers a certain brand / type of ammo. But I don't regularly shoot matches and cost is a factor so I go bulk Federal and rim gauge which seems to work okay for me.

Candocad.

A rim thickness gauge will come in handy trying to do the 50 yard challenge.
I want to do it without going broke buying High end ammo. I Have some:
SK Plus
Remington Target
S&W Standard Velocity
Ruko Target
Eely Club
CCI Standard Velocity
Old White Box Winchester T-22 (supposed to be decent)
New Grey Box Winchester T-22 ( Crap )
Federal Gold Medal Match
A-1 Standard Velocity. Older target ammo in a grey, and blue box.

I also have Blaser, American Eagle, CCI Stingers, CCI Mini Mags, Winchester Experts & Dynapoints.
But I don't expect 5 five shot 1/2 inch groups on the same target with high velocity ammo.

I hope to do the Challenge with my CZ 452 Varmint, and my Ruger 10/22 with a KIDD match barrel.

Amen to that. My DAR22 hasn't seen a single round of Winchester and Remington .22LR garbage. (Except Remington Target, by Eley)

I shoot mostly CCI and Federal, plus Aguila.

I have treated myself to Lapua, RWS, Eley and SK, but it's damn pricey for punching paper.

Quality for value, CCI Blazer is my go-to.
