I am looking for a .22 LR assault type rifle, one that looks like an AR or maybe an AK/CZ858 looking gun.

Anyone know who has something like this available in Canada - new or used ?

Questar has the krinker plinker kits for 10/22's, and there are some .22 uppers for ar15's. I believe marstar carrys a cz .22 ar15 upper but they're not all that great (from what I've heard).

Another option is the Rhineland R22 from The Shooting Edge in Calgary, but you may want to hold off until the 3rd generation comes in and is tested. Those who have a 2nd gen all agree that they look and feel great but there are big problems right now with defective bolts.

Butler creek makes accessories for the Ruger 10/22. 25 round magazine, and a folding stock with pistol grip. It all adapts to the ruger with no machining.
Good for plinking but not very practical in the bush.

My Charter Arms AR mockup

The AR-7 shot just terrible until I reworked the feedramp and polished the internals, now it functions perefectly. Made up this bolt on kit from 60.00 worth of parts from EBay.

Thanks it was fun making up the kit and it looks, handles and shoots better than the original. Way more comfortable and all the parts unscrew.

This is the Evolution stock for the 10/22 from RB Precision, you can get it via Brownells.Takes all the AR acessories etc. Very good reviews on fit/finish from Rimfire Central.

I would love one of these but I am still trying to figure out if $215 USD not including the buttstock is worth it.... damn they look good for a 10/22 though....

I saw a few stock on ebay for 100 -150USD for 1022 to use AR15 buttstocks and grips.

I just got a Krinker Plinker, I upgraded it from a MG42 looking 1022.
