22 cal semi air pistol???

Canadian Airgun Forum

Not a bunch of semi-auto air pistols ever made, fewer still made in .22 cal, only the Crosman 600, and the Crosman 451, that I know of off the top of my head.

Both suffer from being old to start with, somewhat temperamental with ammo selection, and you can only hope to find used parts, for the most part, unless you are very lucky and persistent in your seeking.

Of the two, the 600 is probably your better bet, provided you are looking for a grouse gun. Expect to spend around $200 for one, and expect to have to put some money in to it in the way of seals etc.

The 622 is a revolver dressed up to look like a semi-auto, as are pretty much all the other 'replica' type semi-auto air pistols.

I had and eventually sold a 600. Fun gun, just not what I was after.

not sure what makes a "true semi auto"

It works in actual semi-auto mode, rather than being a revolver inside a dress-up shell. That's what makes it a semi-auto. Pull the trigger, it fires, cycles the action and is ready to fire as soon as the trigger is reset by releasing it. Does not need a long trigger pull to move the next pellet into the barrel or in to firing position. That's what a semi auto is.

If all you want is a pellet pistol that looks like a semi auto real handgun, there are a fair few around, but mostly they are toy grade crap. Some more expensive toy grade crap than others, but...

If you want one in .22 cal, pickings are slim. If you want, as stated, a semi-auto in.22 cal, the pickings are even slimmer.

If this is all a confusion caused by you not knowing what you were actually asking for, compared to what is available, then you need to do some homework and get an idea of what is what out there.

The Daisy is a revolver dressed up to look like a semi auto. Almost all the other 'semi auto' air pistols are too.

So, do you want a semi auto, or just one that looks like a semi auto?

I just want a 22 cal that hits at over 400 fps and shoots strait every time I pull the trigger. so far the only gun I can find that does that is the daisy 622...

Best of luck then.

You are looking for something that just isn't out there, except in a few old models (very few).

That Daisy didn't sell well enough to be made for very long, or they would be common as dirt. The Crosman 600 met the same fate eventually, but it was the economics that killed them, as they were expensive to build and buy.

Add that to .22 cal being pretty ow down the list as far as cheap consumer oriented air guns went, and you are pretty much peeing into the wind.

But you'd know that if you did any looking in to what was actually out there.

I was able to pick one up from mrmarvin at the Canadian Airgun Forum. He seems to be able to get a lot of old airguns. Try him. I overpaid big time, but am happy to own one of these.

Go to the Canadian Airgun Forum, create an account and post a WTB for what you are looking for. Trust me, you will find one. A very avid group and I have found everything I ever wanted over the past couple of years.

ive got a webley alecto in 22, that has an adjustable valve for power. i have it opened right up to keep it sub 500, but if you were to clamp it down it would hit rather hard. single shot tho...

if you want a repeater, you could do a build using crosman parts. slap a marauder repeating breach & mag on a 2240. you can also convert that to PCP with a HiPAC (which would then require modification to keep under 500)

Weihrauch HW 45.
Single shot but you can kill jackrabbits with this .22.
